I may have misunderstood you, but are you trying to tell me what I believe by stating "I'd never hear you admit to real politic"? If that's the case I have a few words for you...

But you're right about the vast majority of the American public... however the few posters who post here are not the vast majority of the American public... football fans as a whole tend to be much more liberal in the States, and then add in the fact that we are drawn to clubs like Celtic, St. Pauli, and Barca for their liberal ideals and we are not like the rest of the country.

Also, the fact that you can't find criticism for Mearsheimer's paper means you just haven't looked, there's plenty out there including a good paper by a Harvard professor/lawyer Alan Dershowitz. The paper accuses Mearsheimer and Walt of three fundamental mistakes, "quotations are wrenched out of context, important facts are misstated or omitted; and embarrassingly weak logic is employed." If you want to read it I'll post the link... and don't take this as me blindly believing the counter-paper either, I just think you are selling yourself short if you don't at least read both sides.

So you refuse to read his paper? If you are going to be biased against him then you have to seriously wonder about guys with the last names Mearsheimer and Walt. Refusing to read something because you disagree with their viewpoint is an extremely dangerous thing... And the fact that you claimed to be open minded is laughable by this statement.

If he is a raving zionist then you are a raving anti-zionist and I have no time for you... I've read both, done research, and found that the answer is somewhere in between... but when things are brought up such as Israel lobbying against the Saudis over a potential purchase of 8.5 billion dollars of military hardware and the Saudis win, well that kind of puts a dent in the theory of an all powerful "Lobby." (Lol at the ominous uppercase they use) However, I am also of the opinion that we are too involved in Israel and that we shouldn't be afraid to criticize them over some of their obvious wrongs. Maybe you should go post on a message board that idolizes David Duke and other far rights/lefts if you are offended to have your opinions intellectually criticized.

Well I've stated that numerous times, so it's not really my problem. Everybody will have their preconceived notions, but it makes you look silly to assume somebody believes something and then act on it, and then be wrong.

david duke?* you ,you *!i'm no anti semite,i'm fully aware of mearshaimer and walts background and my reason for not reading a copy of dershowitzs piece is i can't get my hands on it.should i equate you george bush or the foreign policies of clinton.i'm not afraid of being critiziced nor doe's it bother me to be put right on an issue when i've been wrong.i often read pieces by the likes of krauthammer or other american consevatives and am capable of balancing two sides of an argument.what i won't do is read someone whose mind is made up and the content infront is already apparent.i believe zionism to be wrong but don't agree with all anti zionists.dershowitz,to the best of my knowledge ,has never offered up a critique of zionism ,nor is he ever likely too

The UK has been involved in Africa; something called independence made the UK leave. I think one of the most expensive minerals is found there, Diamonds. The UK has had advisors and training teams in Serria Leone for years. Not to mention they also fought the rebels known as the west side * (renamed Boys) (not to offend the UK population). The UK assisted in stopping the genocide in Rwanda but all too slaow was the response I admit as well as peace keeping in Bosnia, Kosovo to name a few.

A nation of around 56 – 60 million, with an army around 100,000 troops and only a small portion are fighting troops they are stretched to the absolute limit.

Great I love the armchair critics wonderful ideas. I wonder would you put your hand in your pocket, raise taxes by every person in the UK by a fiver a week to recruit more troops (better equipped, manned etc). A guy flipping burgers gets more than a private soldier in the Infantry, Let’s send them off to another country so we can sit back with a beer and criticise. Lucky “Black Hawk Down “was made or some people would not know Somalia happened eh!

Hey Hammer, just spotted this from the UK Government propaganda machine:

BBC NEWS | UK | UK to 'look hard' at troop calls

No smoke without fire and all that. A President elect can still have his ideas that he plans to execute before he's in place.

The way i see it with American at the top of world affairs the world is a safer place, so if they look out for their own interests to keep them there the so be it. If America were to crumble at some point in the future the world in my opinion will be finished as we know it. I really hope that day never happens.
