A large group of Taliban soldiers in Afghanistan are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a sand dune: "One Newfie soldier is better than ten Taliban.”

The Taliban commander quickly orders 10 of his best men over the dune whereupon a gun battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes, followed by silence.

The voice once again calls out: "One Newfie is better than one hundred Taliban."

Furious, the Taliban commander sends his next best 100 troops over the dune and instantly a huge gun fight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again silence.

The Newfie voice calls out again: "One Newfie is better than one thousand Taliban!”

The enraged Taliban commander musters 1000 fighters and sends them to the other side of the dune. Rifle fire, machine guns, grenades, rockets and cannon fire ring out as a terrible battle is fought. Then. . . . silence.

Eventually one badly wounded Taliban fighter crawls back over the dune and with his dying words tells his commander, "Don't send any more men......it's a trap. There are TWO of them."

The Taliban were a disgrace to humanity and we were right to remove them from power.

Things are never that black and white caoimhin. The taliban ruthlessly murdered the afghan people who stood against them over the years so I find it equally abhorrant to suggest that it would be acceptable to sit back and watch this merciless regime continue its cruelty. How would you feel if other nations sat and watched our lives be dictated by fear and didn't intervene. Your point about hidden agendas is of course valid and i'm as cynical as the next man about the motives for entering the middle east, but i dont think jumping on one guys joke is the appropriate platform for airing your political views.

    Peace Out

so its not abhorrent to tolerate north korea, the janjaweed or any of the dictators that britain helps america prop up?the notion that your in there because of human rights is ridiculous.you've virtually given up on all but a strip in the north of the country which just happens to contain a very important oil pipeline.and when you make a deal with the "merciless regime" to cut and run(talks with the taliban were proposed by the british) what exactly will you find acceptable then?and as an irishman ,i now only to well what its like to have a silent world while a foreign power ruthlessly dictate an oppress

North Korea has engaged in a policy of MAD with South Korea... meaning if we even so much as step on their land Seoul is literally history, and all its millions of people are dead. They have so many missiles already pointing at Seoul it's a joke.

About the joke, it's old and has been adopted in many other forms. The one I've read is US Army Special Forces against US Marines. (where the Special Forces do the * whooping)

To post a joke entitled 'War in Afghanistan' is just stupid. You must know you are going to get people, like myslf, who think this is a serious thread and will not see the funny side of people dying and suffering.

How to start a thread: This is funny - Joke - PMSL.
Don't be surprised when people don't find the joke funny mate.

a situation that has arose out of american inaction.instead of tearing across the dmz, america allowed pyongyang to get its hands on nukes.any dictator worth his salt now knows that the only way to avoid an invasion is to possess w.m.d as america has shown in korea it won't attack a country that has them

Ummm.... no. You don't need nukes to blow up a city... just ask WWII Europe. They've had conventional weapons pointed at Seoul since the Soviets gave them long-range missiles in like the '70s or '80s.

I swear... first people get angry at the US for being involved in world policing too much, and now we aren't involved enough? You can have one way or the other, but not both.
