Don't waste your time. Hopefully by this time tomorrow the politics of fear hate and intolerance which the extremist right have foisted on the US and by extension the world will be out of the white house. I have very little faith that the Democrats will be able to turn this country around but one thing I am sure of is the extremist right have delivered nothing more then hatred, intolerance and division within this country and a bellicose imperialist foreign policy which has so drained this country and turned much of the world against America.

That's hilariously ironic coming from somebody who started this thread off with nothing but one-liners from attack ads.

    Nail meet head.

That road goes 2 ways though mate. McCain is going to get a lot of votes because Obama is black, but Obama is going to get a lot of votes because Obama is black as well.

Iran is a threat to Israel, not America. Israel already has nukes... and Iran is actually within all the international agreements to have nuclear energy.
McCain is a hawk... and that kind of rhetoric regarding Iran only plays into the hands of Irans' very own neocon leader.

Yea I was thinking the same thing. It's ridiculous... voting for McCain because of economics is hilarious at best too. He's been schooled in that department every time it's come up, he's extremely inexperienced with economics, his party has just led the entire world straight into a shthole, suspending his campaign was a joke -- he only drew out the process, and his economic advisers are hardly impressive.

IMO there is too much made out of these taxes. Reagan was a Republican... and the tax plan Obama has described is straight out of the Reagan administration.
The people making over 250k had the same level or higher taxes pre-Bush. During Bush the rich got richer. American economics have only become more polarized. I think it's hilarious that the Republicans have convinced so many poor people that cutting the rich' taxes benefits everyone. TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS DON'T WORK... THEY NEVER HAVE.
I realize Diegans' friends apparently have to pay for 30k colleges... but * are they paying so much for college to begin with? No way in *, even with MGIB benefits, I could get 30k/yr from government loans. They max out well before 20k IIRC.
Just about every state has an exceptional in-state school for under 5k/yr, and even if you really want a different state school most regions have swap agreements to get in-state. If you really want out-of-state or private... guess what... everyones got to pay a boatload out of pocket.

And what I really wanted to add was http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/
Decent site that breaks down how the election could shape up. It's not biased to either side, just looking at the numbers and trying to predict. Right now it's saying 98.1% Obama.

As McNaka stated, trickle down economics is BS. The idea is that if you throw money at the rich then they will reinvest the money within their firms and it will trickle down to those at the bottom through lower prices for all. The way prices are lowered is through increased competition and throwing money at all corporations making more than a certain amount certainly does not increase competition. It either remains the same because all companies are benefiting from these tax breaks or the richer corporations who have more capital at their disposal are able to gain more market share and move towards a small conglomerate of oligopolies.

The OECD had a report recently that income inequality has risen dramatically under all Republican administrations since Carter left office and actually declined under Clinton's administration. The U.S. ranked 3rd worse among member countries just ahead of Mexico and Turkey. Granted inequality will never be eliminated, however when policies are implemented that continually benefit the top 1% of the people and leave everyone else in rut, then we have a problem.

    http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/47/2/41528678.pdf

Obama's tax plan is not bad. Whether McCain believes it is spreading the wealth or not, he is simply rolling back the Bush tax cuts and giving it to middle class families that need it more. Economic growth through consumption has been proven and giving this money directly to consumers to purchase goods will benefit the economy and reach those at the bottom where the trickle down effect fails to trickle all the way down. Republicans believe that it is ok to spread the wealth to the top, but * forbid they spread it to those who actually need it. As for taxing small businesses, I do believe that even Obama has said most small businesses will be exempt from any tax increase.

One last point. Republicans love to tout small government and the free market but tell me how government choosing winners and losers by intervening and giving money to those at the top is anything but big government? If they truly believed in the free market, then they would let the market decide which corporations prosper. McCain tries to preach free market economics and small government but at the same time says we need more regulation and oversight? Ha, I smell BS somewhere in that and wonder what he truly believes.

Obama is by far a better candidate, granted not a perfect one. But then again, who expects the perfect candidate? Someone mentioned earlier about Hillary Clinton being a better option, I think Obama has been able to mobolize young people and African Americans in a way that no other Democratic candidate could have. I went to the Obama rally at my college (UNC Charlotte) last night and was amazed by the turnout. 2.5 hours before he was schedule to speak, a line of people strecthing over a mile were waiting to see him. Over 25,000 people showed up of all ages and race. The weather was poor and it poured off and on and not a single person left the rally despite being soaked. It was like a rock concert and that fact that he was in Charlotte, in a traditionally red state, the night before the election tells you something. States like NC, Indiana, Virginia, Missouri, North Dakota, and Georgia are all in play this year. If Clinton ran, this election would probably be closer in my opinion.

    Maybe we'll see a Clinton/Palin election coming soon.....Hopefully not Palin though. :50:

Does anybody think Obama is getting a lot of votes because of Palin ?

I don't know why, but if i was American, i would vote Obama just because i hate her guts, and not because i like him.

I agree to an extent, it may have been one of a few factors that pushed neutral's to vote for obama and when both campaign's are looked at in detail in hindsight whether or not Mccain wins Palin will be seen as a risky move that just did not pay off.

meant to type iran as first word :52:, do you really think the Iran president will sit down and talk to Obama? from what i've seen, not a hope, Iran are a serious threat to America, more so than any other middle eastern country.

sorry but where was the one liners, i've drawn most my opinions from watching the debates and my own personal opinions of the candidates

that post was more tongue in cheek

It was a write-in candidate. I'm not that crazy. I didn't really want to vote for the president but since I was already there voting for California stuff I decided to just throw a name in there.

For what its worth the guy is way more qualified than Obama and much more sane/responsive than McCain.

McCain is an ersehole ,he should just stick to worrying about how he is going to survive the winter.
