25/30 million? Why? I bet there were plenty of players who cost nothing out there that would be better than our Left Back for starters.

As John Hartson was saying the other night, with the profit Celtic make every year we should be signing ONE top class player. This way we'll close the gap on the CL teams. Just one player like Pavlechenko. That's all I was hoping for. Instead we got Loovens who so far doesn't look much better than Darren O'Dea.

Strachan, McManus and Caldwell are just being realistic, we will never be as good as ManU as long as they are able to pay vast sums of money for players - think about this, soon they will have to decide whether or not they want to pay 32 million for Tevez. That kind of money is completely beyond us.

Agree with what your saying. but Pavlechenko cost 10 million and is struggling in the prem could we afford that. 7 million only buys an average EPL player.
also did not see the point in loovens when we had odea and cuthbert doing well in the friendlies.

And if he came out and said oh we can go on and win it we would all say he has rocks in his head.I dont think anyone at celtic park has given up,what they say to the media and what they think or hope is two differnt matters.
Nothing wrong with a little cat and mouse, might catch someone on the hop.....

if he said he's given up then he should be sacked, i thought the players had given up before they went on the park last night and i could smell the * coming oot their arses from the tv while i was sat on my sofa

i think he is being realistic but i dont think he should be putting this kind of message across to the fans as he should be wanting us to hope and to believe we can sneak that place eventhough it looks unlikely but 3 down 3 to go...still alot to play for.

I respect him for being realistic instead of trying to fill people up with false hopes. Sometimes we need to be told straight - it's actually plain to see anyway.

If anything does emerge in the way of qualification, then it's a bonus - he's done the right thing by telling us what his aims are and what we're looking at now. Can't fault him for that.

I think he does well with what he has, and last night it was plain to see that we just can't compete with the likes of Man Utd any more as well as we used to be able to do. The top players just aren't coming to Scotland, not for the peanuts we can give them in comparison to bigger leagues. The divide is widening, and that's not being defeatist, or giving up - it's being realistic.

I Agree with this. He is just being realistic.

But no one anywhere surely doesnt believe that WGS will be saying to the team against Man U

It doenst matter what happens I have lready said we wont get through.

No he wont. He will send out his team to win. The players will be as committed as before. They will be driven on by the fact that they got deservedly beten by Man U and they all want to play in the last 16.

What he says in front of the camers and behind closed doors are two different things. Cant people realise that and get off his back?

let's be honest, we have to agree with GS here, we haven't a hope in * of qualifying. we just do not have the players now. mcgeady's our best outfield player and he looks a few years off being a top european player. i believe it will come for him though.

qualifying for the UEFA cup isn't the worst thing in the world as i actually believe we would have an outside chance of winning it.

Strachan is right. I mean come on, even if we get the remaining 9 points that'll give us 10 points. Villareal have 7, and still have aalborg to play again, from which they will get 3 points. So the best we could hope for is both us and villareal finish with 10, in which case they go through on goal difference and we finish third. (Assuming united are top which is pretty * likely)
    ....Maybe i'm over analysing this.

Nearly impossible to qualify but we dont give up. Wgs said that at the end of the video.

Dont see a problem with that.

All he is doing is taking the pressure of the players.

10 points might not be enough if we win our last 3 games and Villareal win in denmark.

The man is just being honest.

tbh i think if we win our next game against man utd and aalborg hold villareal to a draw or beat them then i think we will qualify. just my thoughts though.

correct it was a cowardly performance shamefull completly lacking in class and leadership on and off the field no guts whatsoever manu could have put their under 16 team out and beat us because we had lost the game before it kicked off

if celtic win the last 3 games finish on 10 points and if villareal do and celtic beat villareal by more than 1 goal celtic go through it goes down to head 2 head first and if that even then it goes down to goal difference

Would hate to think what he was doing with the team we had in the 90s.
