It's better than Goodfellas, probably in my top 5 movies.

The whole narrative style and the story being told over several years is like Goodfellas
Its a great movie, I seen it in the Cameo theatre in Edinburgh, I didnt have a clue what it was about beforehand, I was totally blown away.

Yeah you're spot on there, have you watched City Of Men? If you like City Of * then i think it's worth a watch.

Also Carandiru is another great Brazilian movie.

I thought it was pretty good. I love all the Bourne films and Ronin is another good one. But my top recommendation is The Counte of Monte Cristo. Outstanding and mostly filmed in Ireland.

Infernal Affairs 1,2 & 3 in one monster sitting.

It's the original which was remade by Hollywood into The Departed.....only the Hong Kong version is 10 times better. You won't see many better movies than parts 1 & 2. 3 is a little tiring but still worth the effort.

Another excellent movie is 15, a Singapore film about the teenage kids of Chinese immigrants and who are largely a forgotten underclass. Good movie!

Hunger is well made and worth watching.

Oh and the new movie with De Niro and Pacino is pretty good...I manged to download that last week, just can't * remember the name of it at the moment.

Oh another good one..or two actually, Crimson River 1 & II. Jean Reno plays a detective hunting a serial killer. Vincent Cassiles is also in the first movie. * good!

I'm a big fan of foreign movies. There are some great movies that came out of HK, Korea, South America and Europe over the past few years.

Anything by Luc Besson, he wrote Taken (Liam Nesson's new film), but didn't direct it.

Leon is a * legend of a movie, Natile Portman's 1st psrt & she's never been better. Gary oldman & Jean Reno are good too.

Nikita has subtitles, but is a great Assassin movie.

Also Wasabi, which has subtiltes & The Big Blue (my personal favorite).

I've not seen City of Men yet, its on the have to see list though.

I'm a bit of a Kurasawa fan, Seven Samurai and Yojimbo take some beating, although my favaourite film of all time is The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. I'd seen it loads of times but only ever on the small screen, I saw it about 7 years ago at the GFT and it was * amazing seeing it the way it was meant to be seen.
I also went to see a restored print of The Wizard of Oz at Cineworld last year, and that was unbeleivable too.

Too true my good man, too true.

Not much violence & espionage though -unless you count Monty trying to inflict a buggering on Marwood on a rainy night!

"I have just narrowly avoided having a buggering & I've come in here with the express intention of wishing one on you.".
