Nah I disagree I cannot believe anyone would pick him! :icon_mrgreen:

He was the China Captain, big strapping lad taken on loan for a nominal fee. He was tested in the cup for 45 minutes where he had a howler, but remember Roy Keane was playing in that game as well.

When I'm choosing "worst player ever" I'm lookingat most damaging to the club. In one respect Rafael Scheidt has a good shout for the title due to the transfer fee AND being gash. Lee Naylor for me for being the worst left-back I've ever seen and achilles heel of the team for 2 straight seasons. But then again even after the first season he had some decent games.

I'm too young to know any worse than these 2, so I'll probably go with Mr. Scheidt. The name makes it all the more apt.

Agree with what you say there mate. Good players, but are classed as some of the worst simply because of the price tag and hype they came with.

I liked Sno, i kind of seen him as a prospect. Wasnt he only about 19 or something? And he got some decent runs in the 1st team. Il never forgive him for when he lost the ball against AC Milan causing Shevchenko or Inzaghi steamrolling up the park to score a vital goal to put us out CL.

( not actually sure if it was AC Milan/Shevchenko/Inzaghi, but im pretty sure someone will correct me! :50: )

    edit:
just remebered people saying Steve Guppy and Bobby Petta. i thought both of them were class players! just remember how Petta used to rip the * right out of Fernando Ricksen every old firm game, and steve guppy, well as far as i remember, he wasnt the best, but wasnt the worst either imho, did a decent job i always thought

and didn't get get some of the money that took him to greyskull.

Some of the players mentioned played for some very bad managers and with some very poor players.

I remember Slater playing for West Ham and he did look the buisness.Same with Berkovic he just didn't fit into the system that Barnes was trying to play (but then again nobody did)

For me Virgo and Du Wei

Wayne 'Biggles' Biggins was not the best forward ever to wear the Hoops.

wasnt it kaka that scored. kaka picked off the ball on the halfway line, macmanus backed off too much and then got skinned and kaka scored.

it was in extra time aswell i was gutted.

i think thats wot your talking out

me....seriously Magnus Hedman wouldn't be our worst player ever but was still a let down...always thought he was excellent at Coventry and was delighted when we signed him but.....:38:

aye mate, i wasnt sure if it was kaka/shevchenko/inzaghi. i think all 3 of them were playing that game, just made logical decision of the strikers getting the goal seeing as celtic were on the attack from a corner(?) and then that diddy totally missed the ball and kaka just totally took advantage of it! - well played for him, unfortunatly i cant say the same for us haha

Aye. And you know the other times when you make an informed judgement based on the actual facts?

You're entitled to your gut feeling of course - but don't you think the gut feeling of a top professional manager like Tony Mowbray and an internationally-respected scout like John Park is likely to be a wee bit more accurate than yours?

Let's see what Fortune can actually do before we execute him. :50:

BrianQuinn doesnt have a fukin scooby what he is talkin bout. Naylor almost got an england call up in his first season, he was brilliant.

And if u slag Fortune of now then ur whoora harsh. Boy plays some good football, wait till he scores his first... he isnt a prolific scorer..but a good footballer.

The guys mentioning Fortune as being pish need to settle down. Give the guy a chance. Hes gonna come good. Henrik looked * poor in his first game against hibs. Passing the ball to big Chic and stumbling about the park looking pretty hopeless. He turned out alright in the end didnt he...?

    Id say the worst include..

    ..................................................Carl Muggleton...........................................

Mo Camara............... Rafael Scheidt...................... Du Wei ............Steve Guppy

Stuart Slater............ Davie Hannah.................. Martin Hayes ..............Paul Byrne

    ..............................Wayne Biggins ..............Tony Cascarino...........................

Can you imagine that line up running out onto the field? I think id just go home!

The worst player I've ever seen pull on the hoops is Wayne Biggins.

I remember sitting in the South Stand, it was 1992 / 93 I believe, Lou Macari was manager and we were playing Motherwell at Celtic Park.

The score was nil-nil. It was foggy and a bit rainy. The seats had been put in the Jungle and that was bad enough looking when...

...I remember the boards went up and it was indicated over the tannoy that Wayne Biggins was about to come on as a sub for us. A smattering of cheers were heard. But so was a grumbling of 'Who is this guy?'.

I remembered him from some wacky compilation football video I'd got for the Christmas before he signed. In the video he scored a back heeler for Barnsley. I knew things were not great for Celtic at this time but I had hope now I thought, hope given to me by that wee guy who presented They Think It's All Over, for it was he who had also presented the video I got for Christmas from my Step-Brother, in which Wayne Biggins had scored that goal.

He ran on, through the fog and the rain, did the bold Wayne and you know I don't believe he kicked a ball that night at all. I remember walking back to the car with my Dad after the game and just thinking 'Wayne Biggins'. His name was just crap enough without having to have had watch him play football.

I was so glad when Fergus arrived and tore down the Jungle. Even though it held good memories, it was better that it was torn down than if it had been left the way the old board had made it look. I was also glad when Tommy Burns arrived and got rid of those guys we had signed who were never fit to wear the hoops and replaced them with Cadete, Pierre, Di Canio, Thom and yes, even Tosh McKinlay.

The phrase 'Not Celtic class' is bandied about, often jokingly these days, but in the dark days of the old board, that phrase was never more relevant than when I looked out at the crumbling old Jungle, with it's new crappy seats, and caught a glimpse of Wayne Biggins running around pretending he was a Celtic player.

If I've got any dates or anything mixed up there, it's just because that's the way I remember it and I've typed it that way. To be fair to me, I'm sure most of us were under the influence of something watching Lou Macari's team so don't pull me up on it please. It's the kind of memory that makes me rejoice in getting to Seville, Anfield most of all, the 6-2 game and Juventus 4-3.

    Hail hail

Paul Telfer is the best right back we had in that period until Hinkel arrived.

Paul Telfer and Naka on that side were solid.
