Well according to the Daily Mash(sorry, cant put up URL yet)

ALL your hopes and dreams were shattered by * Americans last night, just as you suspected they always would be.

Along with six billion other humans you were forced to rethink your life plan as one set of * rejected a bail-out for another set of * because they were worried about losing their seats when a third set of * goes to the polls in November.

Emma Bradford, an office manager from Luton, said: "Whenever things were going well there was always this voice in the back of my mind saying, 'make the most of it because sooner or later it's all going to be completely * by some * Americans'.

"I just assumed I'd be horribly maimed as a knock-on from one of their insane, catastrophic wars, but instead they have, in the most beautifully co-ordinated fashion, demolished the system that provides me with a job, a home and the vague hope that life may not an elaborate waste of time.
"I'd applaud them, if only I wasn't so weak from all the nauseating terror."
Tom Logan, an engineer from Leeds, said: "I suppose I always knew America would eventually break the planet, like some ghastly, hyperactive toddler that gets hold of a mobile phone and then smashes it repeatedly against the edge of a table, but I never really thought it would affect me.
"But now, thanks to a combination of psychotic greed, political expediency and the sort of jaw dropping stupidity that makes you wonder if they actually know how to breathe in and out, I can look forward to a future of dysentry, burnt-out vans and an exciting range of low-fat meals, all of which - in some way or another - involve rodents."

I don't like their politicians, or UK ones for that matter. In fact make that 99.9999999999% of ALL politicians.
Americans themselves are generally OK ppl.:bbpd:

You do know that there's going to be another vote today or tomorrow, right? Spending 700 Billion dollars as a nation that is already trillions in debt is risky, Congress has to be completely sure that this is going to work. I know you don't like America, but if it falls as a state the world's economy is going to go to * even more than it is, so they want to make sure the risk is justified.

The article I posted is indeed a dig at the US but they are no way singly responsible for it all......European/UK Govts are also bailing out 'thier' banks. Who says Capitalism works?? As the articles aludes to also is the certain fact that we ALL, the ordinary people, will be paying for years for the greed of those who run our lives. Public services will suffer, taxes will go up, along with new ones appearing, food prices will continue to rise and to get back to America, they will probably invent another new nuclear missile so we UK/Euros hav to fork out more billions to them to back up the US economy. Was the last thing Blair did, forced thru a 20billion package for a new American missile when most of his own ruling party of MP's voted against it.

I'd like to think that's why they're beating around the bushes, but lets be honest. It's not. They're playing politics now.
But this article makes your point quite well too, I just don't think it's what they're doing anymore.

All of the actual debate occurred last week and the bill was made palatable (the original edition practically made Paulsen *.)
It then failed as McCain, who openly admits he knows nothing about economics, made it a campaign issue. He brought back some ridiculous ideas that were already shot down and got the republicans all in a tirade.
Well the weekend finally got them back to pre-McCain conditions. Then Pelosi made a speech that "insulted" the republicans... and 12 of them threw a temper tantrum. Before that, everyone thought it was a done deal. Even the people voting against it, thought their vote would just be for appearances' sake (see letter from a rep below).***
So now today, the Senate cheated the system to pass it (74-25) through a loophole. The Senate will probably quit their jobs for the year after tomorrow so it's the last chance for the House to unfuck themselves and pass the stupid thing.

*** Which is another stupid angle, congressmen up for reelection haven't wanted to vote for it because in the media it's being painted as a "sweetheart" deal for the Wall Street execs that * us into this position.

    Some good reads...

It's fine for Latin America and Asia to claim we * them over, we told them to invest in us and now that's going * up, but Europe is hardly the golden child in this situation. When you look at the EU as a whole (which Europeans just love to do when comparing to the US) there have been problems with UK banks, the Benelux bank, etc. But beside, that, this problem isn't the American populations fault, unlike everything Bush has done. We didn't vote these bankers into office. Also, putting ourselves more than half a trillion further in debt leads me to believe that the government is admitting the mistake of not regulating enough... so take that * to a thread about Iraq or something where the American public is truly at fault.

And McNaka, whichever side you go with it doesn't matter... Pelosi was wrong to inject her venom just before the vote just as those Republicans were wrong to change their vote because of it. Because those * in Washington from both sides couldn't swallow their pride and partisanship we end up with a bill that is spending way more than the 700Bil because everyone had to be sweet-talked back in to voting it after it was, by all evidence, going to be passed.

This is the most depressing campaign year I've ever seen and McCain and Obama are two of the worst candidates I think that have ever had a realistic oppurtunity to win, and I'm seriously thinking of never coming back after my study abroad next year.
