My opinion here, but I cant understand why so many fans dont rate Naylor?, we have won three titles with him, have qualified for europe twice with him in team, and lost to huns 2:4 with him not in team against huns? i know his form may have dipped, but i think we need him in team?

Won title with Sno, Virgo and Killen in the team at times, does that make them good?

Ppl don't rate him because, overall, he's *.

i dont think this is an argument, how many games did these guys actually play, in comparison to naylor?, is it because he said he wanted to go back to engerland?

I am Naylor's biggest critic -especially after last season. Caught out too often positionally, and despite his supposedly "magic" left footed delivery, he normally pumps the ball a * MILE over any intended recipient.

That being said, he's been the best full back we have had this season (in the absence of young Caddis, noteably) and as such, i think he deserves a bit of credit. At the moment, my concern lies more with the right-hand berth, so i'm leaving young Leeroy well alone.

I don't think he's been * this year at all mate - when Wilson came in for him at LB i thought we looked a * of a lot weaker defensively AND going forward.

Game against Aalborg - saved us (McManus) twice - once even with a header which i was most shocked about.

Never "world class" and always "workmanlike" but all he can do is play when he'd asked, and our right back choices and Mick have been infinitely poorer than him so far this season IMO.

I agree with absolutly everything you have said 'Richmal'. He rarely ever plays a shocker but people say hes * an never plays good. I think hes a good player, not the best ive ever seen but he does a job at left back and does it well. He bombs down the wings and puts in a good shift defensively. Agree with you %100 mate.

    Good first season.

    Terrible second season.

Think he has been ok so far this season, seems to be able to find passes a bit better and not getting caught out a mile up the park as much.

Folk have to remember that he was hailed as a bargain signing at 600k in his first year. Some people on here were even suggesting him as player of the year. So there is still a good player in there, but there is also a * one as well. Hopefully it is the good ones turn to play this year.

He's playing well this year it has to be said, long may it continue.

We're gubbed without him, there's no other viable option other than Wilson who gets exposed more often than not.

Indeed, indeed and thrice indeed. When Wilson has played in his place, it's been another of those "hide your eye" moments...every time, it seems bound to end in a not-so-glorious failure.

Were Naylor to pick up an injury, i'd far prefer to see Hinkel playing there. Either option is grim, however.

My thoughts on this is that he came to the club with something to prove (because some of the fans would have been unsure about a Championship left-back) and his first season set he standard, and that season he showed he can be a solid left-back.

One of the reason i think his form dipped next year is because he had nothing to prove. The first season silenced any sceptics and he was the only left-back at the club.

I think he took his foot off the gas, because he was almost guaranteed a place in the side.

It wasn't just people on here. You can dig up articles about Naka winning it if you like and it specifically mentions -- for every single award -- that he faced stiff competition from Boruc and Naylor.
For another example, Naylor was PotM when we beat ManU 1-0. Not Boruc, not Naka ... Naylor. He was truly outstanding his first season.
Unfortunately, he was very poor in his second but we kept sending him out there because he was the only LB we had and we were even playing Caldwell at RB. He only seemed to get worse.
He is mediocre to good this year, but I still think we need a second LB to push him for a spot.
And of course, there are the "rumors" (or are they statements/facts from him?) that he is unsettled and misses his family.

Think he has been ok so far not the best player i have ever seen, but since he was dropped for a few games he has actually looked more like his old self, but as we have said all summer we still need a LB the more competition in that postion the better.
