I'm a bit of a gastro-head, I find being in the kitchen one of the most relaxing & enjoyable pleasures about - probably cos I love good food, wine & entertaining friends, but don't really have a lot of money.

I got myself quite a lot of wild mushrooms at the weekend & made a great lasagne. Didn't go as far as making the lasagne though, just got it from Lidl's:icon_mrgreen:.

I get a lot out of making a nice meal for people if they come over to my house, but I try not to be too poncy or anything.

My favorite meal to make cheaply would probably be:

    Cullen Skink
Steak Pie with champ & roasted root veg
Dark Chocolate Brownies with ice cream.

PS: My Chocolate brownie recipe is the fooking bollox & is guaranteed to get you into the knickers of any bird who tastes them!:50:

Anybody else enjoy cooking, or is it just for big girl's blouses?

Any favorite tried & tested recipes or cheap meals?

Lasagne, chilli and a mean trifle with a glug of sherry are my 3 weapons of choice.

Love cooking, love food, love food programmes :50:

    Aye, see?

    Closet Gastro.

    That's how we all start.

Why go to the bother of making French toast, when normal toast will do?

Just indulge your urges a bit further & the next time your in John Lewis's with the missus, you'll be bugging her to get those fancy pans you like the look of.

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
Missus makes a * mean chilli...either with rice, or turn it all into nachos. A delight.

For me, after many efforts it comes as follows for ye olde evenings when guests are around:

    Brocolli and stilton soup,

Fillet steak - peppercorn sauce, asparagus, tatties (mashed and boiled) buttered mushrooms...favourite meal in the world.

Sticky toffee pudding - have to cheat and get her indoors to do it. Not the * foggiest...have tried and failed on numerous occasions to get it right.
