    All over. Celtic 1-2 City

    Record under Sadiku v City... P10 W2 D3 L5

    Her record is even worse v Sevco... P10 W1 D4 L5

That is now a total of just 3 wins in 20 games combined against the two other Glasgow clubs. That is dire. Not beaten Sevco since March 2024, which was her first ever game against them. Been all down hill since then.

    Ghirls cruising 2-0 at HT

Noonan's early goal set the tone, and McAnemy doubled the lead on the half hour. Although considering Hamilton are sitting bottom of the table with a -37 GD after just 9 games, you would think that Celtic really should be much further in front.

Celtic comfortably in control, but only managed the 1 goal since HT. Considering playing against the bottom of the SWPL1, and Celtic playing at home (albeit as the away team as they groundshare with Accies), and it's not exactly a 2nd string team even if this is coming first game back from international break, still not blown away by the performance so far...

Job done so far as getting the win is concerned, but considering playing amatuer Accies who are currently bottom of the division, it really is the bare minimum.

Celtic FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Brownlie as Head of Girls’ Academy, and he will officially take up the role on December 8th.

Paul is no stranger to the club, having previously served as Head of Girls’ Academy at Celtic for seven years from 2008 to 2015 before being recruited by the Scottish FA as High Performance Football Manager.

During his time at the Scottish FA, Paul oversaw key performance programmes at the National Performance Centre for Women’s Football, playing a vital role in developing the next generation of Scotland’s international players.

Since 2021, Paul has led Motherwell Women as both Head Coach and Head of Women and Girls’ Performance, guiding the team to their first-ever top-six finish in the Scottish Women’s Premier League during the 2024/25 season.

Paul’s return to Celtic comes at an exciting time for the club, with the recently opened Barrowfield Training Centre now providing a state-of-the-art facility and pathway for players from youth level right through to the women’s first team.

Paul Brownlie said: “I can't wait to return to Celtic and to work with the next generation of young players at such an exciting time for the women’s game.

'With the opening of the Barrowfield Training Centre, there’s a real sense of momentum throughout the Academy.'

"Now it’s about getting to work and ensuring that we do all we can to allow our girls to reach the highest level.”

Stewart McGuire, Celtic FC Women Operations Manager said: “Paul brings incredible experience and a proven track record in player development here in Scotland.

"We’re delighted to welcome him back to the club. With players like Chloe Craig and Maria McAneny making a huge impact in the first team, we look forward to seeing more Academy graduates follow in their footsteps under Paul’s guidance."

Elena Sadiku, Celtic FC Women’s Head Coach, also added: “It’s important for us at Celtic to have a strong connection between the Academy and the first team.

"With Paul leading the Girls’ Academy, I’m confident we’ll continue to strengthen that pathway and see even more players progress from Barrowfield to making their mark in the first-team.”

The Academy is probably every bit as important for the women's team as it is for the Men's, but in different ways.

For the Men, obviously very few graduates get to make a career at Celtic in the first team, but it is still important to develop talents that then can be moved on and be able to bring some significant fees in also. That's the hope at least.

For the women however, it is crucial as it a total pipeline for players that do actually step up to their firsts. This is true throughout the past 5-6 years since they went professional and continue to see new Ghirls coming through. Literally 11 of the current women's team squad of 23 are direct Academy graduates, and two others came back to Celtic after they were released after graduating but never made the step up to the first team until they went elsewhere. So when literally half of the squad is coming from the Academy, it's all the more important this is given the attention.

Motherwell did really well last season, not just as the best of the semi-pro/* teams, but they nicked a couple of points off some of the professional clubs (Celtic, City, Hearts, Hibs & Sevco), so to get their manager back to Celtic does speak to that. Not to mention, Celtic's best player over the past 15 months was Emma Lawton, who developed at Motherwell under Paul Brownlie, so it is a good move.

Now just need to get Sadiku replaced with an actual decent manager (well, head coach as she is) for the first team as well.
