Aye, I've got no issue with him being involved at the club in the capacity he has been up till now or even 1st team coach at one point or another.

My fear is the board see him as some sort of future 1st team manager. He's miles off what's needed. Some of the questions, admittedly tabloid bait, gave me the fear in terms of the notion that he could one day take the top job.

To be fair he did distance himself from it, but it's talk like that that puts his name into the hat when new managers are required

I shared your thoughts last night too and had the fear that a few decent results would result in an “extended interim period” but his interview today put those fears to bed for me. He seems an incredibly switched on guy and from listening to him, he’s comfortable in his role and doesn’t seem to have a problem in admitting the job is just far too big for him.

Some of the names being linked are putting the fear in me but I’m pretty confident now that it won’t be Maloney regardless of how well they do in however many games they end up taking.

I hope we can get the new manager by Sunday, but that's highly unlikely. Just hope he can get something out of Balikwisha, like he got out of Petta.

Also a clean slate for Shin and Inamura now.

If anyone can get the team focused amid the board protests, it's MON I guess.

With regards to whether MON will get the job permanently. I believe he would at least want it permanently.

I was watching TalkSport yesterday and someone (may have been Simon Jordan) said that MON had been talking about wanting to get back into management and that this was a great opportunity for him. So I don't know whether he'd be offered it, but I think at the very least he'd probably take it if offered.

I know he's 73 but you've got US presidents in their 80s. If he feels fit, he may fancy it.

Mr O'Neil is not 100 percent mentally agile to take this job. His ramblings and replies to some of the questions at the press conference ...some were strange to say the least . He has had his day, and that was 20 odd years ago. Let him guide us through a week or two to steady the ship but as a full time manager he is in no way physically or mentally able to do that.

I think he's just in there as a figurehead and motivational speaker rather than a tactician or long term manager. Hoping it's just a couple of games to get some positivity back into the stands/pitch and we get somebody full time sorted for the start of the next international break.

Bringing The Rat back stank of lack of options and this pairing also has a whiff of lack of options. What elite manager is going to come to a club that has money but refuses to spend and strengthen from a position of power?

Ange was the last manager who had us stronger than before. Every Rogers season we were weaker than last.

If he gets it permanently we are in even more bother than I imagined.

His interview on celtic TV is a bit all over the place too. He is constantly referencing his age etc.

But then again that's just him. His mannerisms haven't changed.

What is interesting to me and quite clear, is him also saying again and again about the fans and a successfully football club being one where the fans, team and board all pull together.

Its clear as day he's been brought in more as a figurehead to try and calm things, which Desmond thinks will work. For me, it won't.

As I said before this is a sideshow. It's more about the permanent appointment and how that manager is backed. That'll show if they've learned their lesson.

Good luck to MON tonight. A club legend and my favourite times as a fan were when he was in charge before.
Hopefully this is a very temporary arrangement though and we can get the new guy in soon.

Never in a million years did I think this day would come around again but I am absolutely buzzing to go and watch a Martin O'Neill Celtic team again.

Been watching Celtic for 37 years and his spell in charge is my absolute favourite time supporting us by a considerable distance.

So much of our success over the past 25 years can he traced back to him. He's a genuine, bona fide Celtic legend and it's gonna be great to see him back in the dugout tonight.
