Have Club Brugge ever won the European Cup, been beaten finalists and semi finalists ? :34:

Don't get me wrong, but as we stand at the moment, Club Brugge is definitely at our standing and much better run, no disagreement there.

But say for arguments sake, Hayen got reassurances from the Board that he would get the money to bring in the players that he wanted, and the same data analytics set up like Brugge and Hearts, maybe he would see it as a new challenge he would like to take onboard ?.

Well we will find out I guess. I can certainly see the argument that the Celtic name and its allure would carry enough weight to entice a top quality manager despite the back stabbing board and Desmond but personally I think while up until now that was probably true I think that the hit piece on the clubs web site by Desmond was so bad and coming on the back of Lawwell's/board members hit piece in the papier earlier it doesn't apply now. Regardless we will indeed find out at some point.

Also agree that our overall football structure is massively outdated and not fit for purpose. Pretty much is the same for the entire club from top to bottom for the most part. We need a genuine overhaul of serious proportions on and off the field in almost all areas and it is clear that will not happen as long as we are shackled to a vindictive owner who is happy to sabotage our club if the mood strikes him and a board of the same ilk.

Any prospective manager has the lure of progression to a possible EPL job, nowt wrong with that if we can get 2-3 good seasons out of them.

That’s what he enjoys. Loves to see it hoofed up the pitch.

Our European history is largely irrelevant to managers. The size of the club can be a draw, but not to the manager of a club like Brugge who routinely outperform us in Europe and play in a better league. It would be a backwards step.

Not to mention Bruges vs Glasgow. Not a tough choice to make unless you’re tied to Celtic through fandom.

It's not the end of J- or K-League season yet, so it's unlikely it'll be someone from there. But we could ask JFA permission to speak with Moriyasu, to manage both Celtic and JNT. Guus Hiddink done it with Australia and PSV.

We drew 1-1 with Brugge. Yeah ? I've never been to Brugge yet, but I think Glasgow is the finest city in the world, for a lot of reasons, plenty managers have come to Glasgow, and have said they and their families love living here.

We are still a big club, albeit dormant at the moment in Europe, but don't forget we were locking horns with Bayern Munich only last year, and doing not bad. Look Rodgers * us up, arguably intentionally. We should have been in the Champions League now, £40M in our coffers. I could have managed a Celtic team over 2 legs to beat Kairat, probably a good few on this forum could have. We are not a basket case, plenty of good young managers out there would love the challenge.

I'm confident we will get a very good appointment this time.

Not many on here would leave Brugge for Celtic and we are mostly Celtic daft.. At the moment they are streets ahead of us, in saying that if we had ambition we could easily pass them... Anyone know what the manager there is paid?

Prospective candidates will know all about Celtic’s history and the fan base. Unfortunately it’s the * in the boardroom that are the flies in the ointment.

They have been beaten by Liverpool in the 70s, twice, in a European and uefa cup final. Also lost to Werder Bremen in the semifinals somewhere early 90s cup winners cup. Last best result was 1/4 finals in 2014/15.

He renewed his contract, probably around 1mil Euro.
Btw some local site picked up in it: https://www.voetbalkrant.com/nieuws...ner-nicky-hayen-in-beeld-bij-topclub#reacties

however they state Sky is source. So no Belgian sources.

I have absolutely no idea why, but the more I think about it, the more I think Bellamy would be a good fit for us. As I say I have no idea why. Hayen would be my first pick.

Bellamy seems talented. Just worry about his inexperience. Cant see him ditching Wales just now either

I can't see him doing that either mate, inexperience is a worry, but that won't bother Desmond and co.

Indeed, but he probably will have a contract with huge bonuses for titles, reaching champions lg etc. Brugge always seem to work that way with managers, lower salary but huge bonuses.
