Lijnders is assistant at City, not United. And why would you leave a possible champions league place in the Bundesliga to come here?

The Celtic process will be to ask Gordon Strachan what he thinks. Prediction...

Wee Shaun as 'head coach' - no more managers!
Gavin Strachan as assistant coach/cone putter ooterer
Gordon Strachan as new all powerful DoF, ably assisted by Mark Lawell

    Sorted!

I actually wouldn't be against Solskjaer himself tbh.

Felt like his man United side played pretty decent football. Wouldn't take much from his recent spell in Turkey as their clubs are a basket case.

I would be fine if we appointed a proper tactician as his assistant.

Are you omitting in purpose his disastrous period as RB Salzburg?

apologies that should have been a reply to the poster who suggested him

We should look at the manager in the way we look at players. Getting a young exciting one in, who's trajectory is only going up. Yes we may lose them to another club, but that's our model and the footballing side should be structured under a DoF to minimise the impact of a manager going.

Just looking at the stats of the hearts game and its grim reading. Halkett had more counter presses than our entire MF. The players bought under the Jamestown data had the highest performing stats of the game. Go figure eh!

We should have someone in who can interpret the data and use this to get the players in, to field a fast pressing, attacking team.

Not looking at Dermots filter of connections to Celtic, Irish and do I have their telephone number.

I think Edin Terzic is the one free agent that would excite me the most.

I want something fresh and he's experienced enough at a young age still.

Again though can I imagine Desmond "looking him in the eye" and thinking he's the man for celtic? Probably not once he opened his mouth and a non-Irish accent comes out.

Get this in your letter to Santa mate, we can only wish Celtic start operating like a forward thinking football club.

As it has came out of the blue I'd expect we're some way off an appointment. Kind of backed up by MON and Maloney in an interim charge.

We have 4 games before the international break so will be interesting to see how that goes. You wouldn't be surprised to see a guy like Maloney get it. He's someone who was sacked by Hibs and Wigan so he's the perfect type of yes man for this board.

MON and Maloney is a very strange combo, they would seem to have completely opposite philosophies on how they like their teams to play.

My only worry remains that Dortmund was his only job in management. Obviously, he done well. His only experience of managing a football club was the 2nd biggest club in Germany, where resources aren't exactly stretched. Dortmund also have one of the scouting networks around, so it's not like he would be coming in, with an army of knowledge when it comes to recruiting players for our level.

I fully expect it to be MON and Maloney for rest of season myself tbh

    Ten Hag
    Thiago Motta
    Spalletti
    Marco Rose

Could any of those potentially be tempted?

Aye true. It'd be a risk but I suppose every appointment is.

I'd imagine he'd take one look at our set up and run a mile. This is the issue. And my biggest concern...any good young manager will want things done in a modern way.

I would rather Bellamy over Keane and some of the names linked, but we can do far better

I would go for Marco Rose. Good age, elite manager and a realistic one.

But he's neither Irish or a Sellick man.
Big Desmond won't be wanting that.

Worrying that McKenna is top of reported lists.
Had a very poor start to championship with premier League squad and massive parachute payment.
    Shades of Russell Martin.....

Bellamy would be a far better appointment than Keane.
