Wel if thats what its intention was then it has back fired spectacularly and added fuel to the fire. A fire I might add that Desmond, Lawwell, Nicholson, Mckay etc started.

If there was any remote doubt that Desmond needs to go for Celtic to progress last night IMHO erased any of those doubts.

I was thinking about this earlier.

If legal action is taken by Rodgers and was successful, who would pay the fine & legal fees. The club or DD personally?

Its true, but everyone votes with him.. it would take massive change, to force change. Or a new buyer..

That statement and MON appointment proves his control is absolute.. beyond his actual shareholding..

The only way that changes is if he exits or someone buys us..

Looks like he is a lover of dictators with the flags he has there. Sounds about right.

No doubt about that mate. Guess it’s wait and see if they back the new manager in January

Good. Rodgers isn’t an innocent party in all of this and there’s likely some truth in Desmond’s words. But the statement was unprofessional and as you say has rightly added fuel to the fire.

Formally Im pretty sure the charge would be against the club. In reality, DD would probably pay through the club accounts.

Certainly no manager of genuine top draw status will touch the Celtic job now as long as the back stabbing board and ownership remain in place.

Not a chance things get better while Desmond, Lawwell, Nicholson and McKay remain. They need to go.

Agreed. Any possibility that Desmond could fix things has been erased with that hit piece and its clear as day he must go himself now. He is utterly toxic.

The first and best thing Desmond and the board could do for the good of the club is resign themselves which of course they will not do but if they actually really did support the club they would recognize their time has past and every day further they stay they are actively hurting the club.

Not an expert on this but while the statement was issued via Celtic it wasn’t signed off by the Club it was specifically DD so I’d imagine it would be his liability/issue although, lets be honest, Im pretty certain the ego wont be launching any legal actions as he would need to show something was untrue. Having said that ask enough lawyers and you’ll find someone willing to take yer money.
The statement certainly gives plenty of transparency on what DD’s views on rogers are now anyway and folk wanted transparency, seemingly.

But surely that's vice versa? DD would need to present evidence of what he has accused him of. He was the guy who started this with the statement. I agree that it's highly unlikely BR is going to litigate against a billionaire :56:

I’m pretty sure if required DD will be able to provide dates, the minutes of meetings held so the proof will be in them and witnesses to the majority of these meetings.
People litigate against the president of America so being wealthy and powerful isn’t an excuse not to sue, the ego is wealthy enough to be able to do so, when its warranted but to be successful you need the claims/allegations to be untrue…
We all know rogers is a bullshitter/someone who will make up * (outright lie) ie his McGrain story - therefore divisive, toxic and self serving are all pretty accurate descriptions of rodgers.

No matter what Rodgers did or said, you don't put out an official statement like that. It's embarrassing and shameful.

Still utterly blown away by that statement from Desmond, never seen anything like it in my puff. Think he's been a bit cute with some of the language used but also reckon there's a lot of truth there aswell.

I think it all comes down to Rodgers demanding free reign with recruitment, the club reluctantly giving him it in summer '24, then deciding that his decision making was just too far from what they're comfortable with.

So they've stopped giving him carte blanche, he's threw the toys out and the relationship has gradually gone to *. Rodgers has went rogue in public which is a big no-no, and Desmond has had enough of his *.

Both sides trying to shaft each other and both sides have made a complete balls of it.
