I'm sure many here have been saying in the last 15 years the domestic league is boring and we have no challengers.
Personally, i'm excited the Hearts have laid down a marker and we have someone to chase for a change . Makes it an exciting season and puts us as the team chasing, than the one always being chased. Also zombies perhaps may start to click makes it a potential 3 way race. Im here for it, every game now counts.
Maybe some aren't old enough to remember pre 2012 and the rough and tumble games when every game counted and you would be checking other teams results in the hope they dropped points.
Competition is fun. Maybe everyone here is desensitised to winning endless trophies than realising competition makes it exciting. Yes we have dropped off a cliff the last 6 months but regardless its where we are, how do we come out of it and how do we handle the challenge is fascinating to watcch.

Everyone will win and lose form throughout the season, lets see who comes out on top

You're right about wanting a challenge, but the fact it's down to us regressing while playing some dull as dishwater football means I'm not excited by the prospect of it. If Hearts post 90pts and we don't win then fair dos, but if they win with a record low points tally, or the huns after their disastrous start win the league, it'll be down to us failing rather than some vast improvement in the standard of title rival. I can't get excited or feel positive about Celtic being a mess.

I've used a lot of words to describe this season 'exciting' isn't one of them

The eye bleeding football is more if a concern that the points siuation. For me anyway. If this was Ange's Celtic and we were playing exciting football but were still sitting 2nd in the league it would be easier to live with.

Glad to see other teams perform better, just a shame it's they hun *.

I think the challenge for us should be Europe. Or another club in the SPL raising their levels to meet the standards we set.

The club being a mismanaged mess and dropping to the level of an SPL team isnt what most people want in order to get excitement from the club.

If the unthinkable happens and we don’t win the league there will be no hiding place for Desmond, Lawwell, Nicholson, McKay and the rest of the charlatans.

I’d love a challenge if we were firing and looking good.

Hearts have 25 points from a possible 27.

They are absolutely meeting our standard at the moment.

Even if we were at our best, there would still be a challenge on at the moment.

    There is no challenge.

Celtic Football Club is caught up in a war between the Board, Rodgers and the fans.
This is surrender, just like the Covid season all over again.

If Hearts maintain that level of form and consistency and win the league then fair play to them. This time last year Aberdeen were about the same (and drew with us in Celtic Park). Then fell away and couldnt keep pace with us.

I think everyone will agree though - that we have dropped many levels and dont look much better than a run of the mill SPL side right now.

Sorry but this is largely Pie and Bovril patter. Us wanting a challenge didn't mean we wanted to haemorrhage our own team so that the other bog standard sides look better in comparison.

This week in European football the Huns got 3-0'd against Brann, Aberdeen got beat 6-0 against AEK and we scraped past a * Sturm Graz team. Hibs already out of Europe.

Scottish football is in the gutter and small teams celebrating it for being more competitive can't see the woods for the trees.

It's difficult to take pleasure in the drama of the title race when we shoot ourselves in the foot before a ball is kicked.

It's not even like we've given Hearts a headstart and have the means to reel them in. The downsizing of standards at Celtic is maddening.

Obviously aye, we are 8 points behind.

But Hearts deserve their position, it’s not a case of them only being top cos we are *.

We couldn't bother turning up for title defense, basically. Only utter incompetence could cause Hearts to * this up.

100% agree it's on the board, management should we fail to win. But for the present we are where we are and out with that we have to find a way to win. Unchartered territory, it's how we negotiate it in the now. Whatever happens come summer will be dealt with then.
I still think we claw it back, hearts have to go through a barren spell, how do they react to the pressure if (only if) we find our form

Spot on. I was genuinely excited to watch a Hearts v Celtic game for the first time in... decades(?) That's not to say we haven't had tough games against them in the past, but they've largely been inconsequential in the context of the season. It wasn't nice getting beat, of course, but it certainly adds a real spice to the season.

History tells us that we'll get our act together. It's up to Hearts whether they'll be able to go the distance and stay in the lead.

I would love love love to go into the final day of the season not knowing if the league was wrapped up. I genuinely can't remember the last time that happened.

    Getting sick of this.

It’s not that we’re moaning because there’s a challenge. We’re complaining that we’ve been brought down to Hearts’ standard more than them raising their game to meet ours.

A fully firing Celtic team operating as it should be is around 5 points clear of this same Hearts team right now.

    It’s inexcusable
