Celtic is seemingly viewed by aspiring managers as a good place to stay in the media and get good exposure to European football while they wait for the right opportunity elsewhere.

Ange Postecoglou would seriously consider a sensational return to Celtic if the opportunity arose, sources have told Football Insider.

Postecoglou was sacked by Nottingham Forest on Saturday (18 October), after taking charge of just five Premier League games.

It is the second time the Australian has lost his job this year, after Tottenham dismissed him at the end of last season.

Postecoglou had two very successful years in charge of Celtic before leaving in the summer of 2023 to join Spurs

Sources say that Postecoglou could be an option for Celtic if current manager Brendan Rodgers decides not to sign a new deal.

Rodgers’ future with the Glasgow giants is in doubt, with his contract expiring at the end of the season and still no word on an extension.

It remains to be seen whether Postecoglou would return to Celtic, but after having so much success in his first spell he would definitely consider the option

The Hoops currently sit second in the league, five points adrift of table-topping Hearts, and are at risk of relinquishing their hold on the Scottish Premiership title

Would need to feed Ange the same bullshit we fed Rodgers when we convinced him to come back because everything was more professional now.

I doubt he could work with Lawwell long term. He needs to go also.

Was the talk before he left not that DD was ready to branch out and modernise the technical side of things and stuff? Did that happen or get tossed to the side? Would he maybe push the boat out to get him back?

The only way he comes back is with a new board appointed beforehand.

That was most probably only somw gossip as I'm pretty sure DD would have done that when he broad back his perdonal favourite Rodgers ;)

Why should he have done that for Ange but not Rodgers, when it's widely reported it was him that wanted Rodgers to manage Celtic? So I'm pretty sure this modernisation was never on. DD doesn't care enough.

I'd be very surprised if he came back to work with the same board

If the offer was there, absolutely no doubt in my mind he would take it.

The problem is, I don't think we should go there. Would be so typical of this football club that the very best man they can find for the job just so happened to work for us 2 years ago and is out of work.

    No plan, no structure. Nothing.

They'll pitch it as a big return and that it's something innate about the football club that made him want to return. Not him having two domestically poor stints & getting sacked consecutively meaning he's desperate for a job.

So many coaches out there that would fit into a new footballing structure, as well.

Would rather someone like Marco Rose than have big Ange back but wouldn't say no to him at this stage.

Sean Dyche immediately turns around Forests form.

I think Dyche suits them a lot better tbh.

Whilst there's definitely question marks over his management at top level, he was never a fit at Forest, was a mental appointment.
