I can understand this. That’s all it is however, is a roll of the dice, because it’s not based on anything we’ve seen from Shin.

Kenny scored and played well in that game.

He and Inamura won't play as long as Rodgers is here. They are both blocked by his big ego.

He would not be able to cope with the dissapointment if Yamada ended up scoring lots of goals.

Remember reading similar in Rodgers first season back, when guys like Yang, Tilio and Kwon might have been great signings had Ange been manager. Reality is, none of them were good enough. It’s probably the same with Inamura and Shin. As usual however, because it’s Rodgers it will be down to his ego. Who made the decision to sign these players? That’s a bigger worry.

I know that this is a classic discussion when things are not going as planned, to big up players that is not getting gametime. Inamura and Yamada is different imo. At least Yamada.

Inamura was one of our top 3 players during the whole pre-season. a top performer.
Yamada have been really good the few times we have seen him. 3 times? 2 offside goals which was marginal. There is evidence enough to say that he should be ahead of Kenny.

Its clear as day that they are stuck between BR's ego and the board.

Shin and Inamura may not be good enough but when the team is performing like it is now theres going to be a suspicion that they arent being given a fair shake either.

Rodgers clearly distanced himself from the signings before the guys were barely in the door. If nothing else, i think he could have handled that better. He singled inamura out for some strange comments despite the guy looking half decent when he played for us. Talk of not being physically at the level etc looks strange when tierney is clearly physically way off it as well. Schmiechel is another guy as an example thats not a picture of professionalism but rodgers has allowed this and allowed his standards to drop without taking any action. Is this consistent or are the ex prem guys that rodgers is pals with being given different treatment?

It doesnt worry me so much that shin and yamada may not be up to it. Thats rodgers call. But japan is an affordable market for us that has yielded some of our best sognings recently. Id be concerned rodgers is damaging our reputation there in the future by his treatment of shin and inamura.

Surely the guy deserves a chance to show what he can do during a few games?

Its interesting that he talks about his "honda civic" comment being specific to a lack of pace. Shin is meant to be pretty quick. If pace up top was a major issue for him you would have thought we may have seen a bit more of Shin so far.

It's pretty clear he's backtracking after making an absolute balls of it. He's no got a leg to stand on. I just wonder if now he'll be pretty much forced into changing things up through gritted teeth (obviously not with Shin tomorrow as he's bombed out the EL squad).

If he can't get on if Iheanacho is out for a while, he never will,

A bit unfair on Shin I think. He definitely rattled their two CB's at Ibrox when he came on, they started fouling him all the time.

The stars may be aligning for him at the right time, surely has to be in the squad for Sunday now, with Iheanacho now injured.

If Yamada is not a better option than Kenny than why have we signed him at 25?

Guess he'll get some minutes now but not sure what we can expect of him given he's not had any game time.

He's had a few B-team games so he should be fit and ready to go.

I disagree re: Ibrox & I would you suggest you’re in the minority that thinks he didn’t make a difference when he came but that’s fine, we all have different opinions as I said before.

Kenny did do well when he came on against Livi but I thought Yamada looked good that day also. In the time he’s had on the pitch, Yamada looks to have better movement, more pace & is more of a physical threat than Kenny. As for finishing, it’s difficult to say atm as don’t really think Yamada has had enough time on the pitch to form an opinion there. I feel like Kenny has had sufficient time to form an opinion on his finishing. He defo puts a shift in / works hard & movement is decent but that’s all I see.
