Don't wanna be Debbie Downer, but people really should be reigning in their hopes that Jota can return as if nothing has happened. Ligament injuries can really change a player, especially flair players and he hadn't played that much in the time prior to his return to us either. Michael Mols from rangers back in the day was a prime example. As far as I am concerned we have no idea what player returns from this layoff.

To top it off, further injuries are often of concern after long-term ACL/MCL type injuries. Gavi from Barcelona has just had another reoccurrence of a ligament issue after being out for a year and he is out for another 4-5 months now too. OG Ronaldo famously did his other leg just after coming back when he was at Inter back in the day.

Just trying to be sensible in our expectations here.

Most of its mental though. Hes not based on pure speed. So depends how strong in the head he is. Its not money that motivates him anymore since he's probably richest player at the club by some distance... this is about enjoying football. Imo he'll be fine.

I think he’ll be back in full training December. Been too miserable a last few weeks off the park so going for a positive hunch.

He'll be fine I think, Mols was more of a myth a decent player they thought was better because he had scored like 10 goals in 10 games but was basically just a purple patch, be like if it happened to Anthony Stokes mind he scored 9 in his first 10 for us or something so did Hooper, Commons, Sinclair, probably a lot of players didn't mean they were going to keep going like that.

Pretty much every player comes back fine, Van Dijk done his at 30 was it and at 34 is still the best about hasn't even lost much mobility even despite his size and age. Zlatan, Xavi, Keane, Totti, Del Piero, Shearer, Van Nistelrooy all played for years at their best still.

It shouldn't really make any difference at all.

This can go both ways. I think he’ll come back stronger. He was miles off fitness levels when he got injured, I include physically in that. He looked like he hadn’t eat a meal in weeks.

hopefully during his time off he’s put the beef on a bit, along with having a proper pre season, gym work, weight work. A bit like henrik after his horror leg break. He came back even better.

I expect that as well, I see him coming back stronger and fitter and probably quicker than he was.

It's not often footballers get the chance to get to a higher level physically because they're usually playing all the time, travelling all the time and then time off they are resting from playing all the time or when injured for the odd month they are resting and trying to maintain fitness to get back to where they were quicker.

This type of thing is a chance to work on yourself epsecially still young to come back a higher level than you used to be.
