The situation had became toxic for him and I think with that was happening at the club, the penalty miss and his form, it was right for him to go.

I think he had the attributes to succeed here, he wasn't a terrible striker or anywhere near as bad as made out and I would not be surprised if he goes on to have an excellent career but I think the weight of leading the Celtic line was too big for him.

Good post. Fair, sensible and not looking to treat the lad as a scapegoat, which is usually the case on here.

He could have scored a double hattrick and he would still be *

    Good for him though

Nowhere near him because he was either like a statue in the box or walking back into the box. His movement is honking.

I think the Irish coach said the side put almost 40 crosses into the box. That's what you have to do sometimes in order to score 1 headed goal. Ireland also scored from the rebound of a cross into the box for their first goal. I've no issue with that style of play when you have like 7 lads over 6 foot in the team. Id say we put in like 5 crosses a game into the Celtic box. Most of our crosses are low cut backs. We never played into Idah's strengths. Managers call.

Don’t know who was on comms for the game last night but must have been a Celtic fan. Kept mentioning how “it didn’t work out at Celtic for idah (Which we all know is completely true) when he came on and even after he scored.

but if you look at the stats as a neutral/outsider you’d think it’s been a success 100%. Glad for idah to get a goal after what’s been a terrible week I’d imagine. Bet Swansea couldn’t believe they’re apparent luck when we said yes immediately hahaha

Generally is more effective off the bench, not a surprise he came on for the last 15 or so and grabbed a goal against a team playing with 10 men.

    Frustrated with Idah

    Unquestionably the talent was there, and we saw evidence of that at;

    Motherwell away
    Hibernian away
    Kilmarnock away
    Them at Hampden
    Villa away
    Young boys

Just a pity he couldn’t do it more consistently, and his confidence dropped away

The Celtic fans turned on him viciously after just four games of the season, it was unreal and unfair I thought. Basically hounded him out of the Club.

Idah reads the Celtic forums, just like other Celtic players I would imagine, and he would have seen the extreme level of dissent and insults getting hurled at him on the Celtic forums and media slots, and probably said to himself,

" * that, I'm out of here, after all I've done for the club in the last eighteen months ".

    I can't say I blame him myself.

As much as we * the window, it was absolutely the right move to sell him. Even for him it was the right move.

    Disagree.

He should have been given this season, to see if he could replicate the form and goal count of the last eighteen months. We could then have assessed the situation better, at the end of the season.
That would have been the fair and right way to act imo.

I'm pretty sure the Celtic Board sold him, just to reduce some of the £40M loss suffered by going out of the Champions League.
