Not sexy but felt like the goal was always coming tbh. Didn’t think it would be Idah mind haha

 

First I've watched Ireland in a while, great to see the fight of old on show, took me back to my childhood. Done well to pull a point out of it. Big Scalesy would have bagged a winner if he got flung on.

 

All felt so aimless. Just throw it in and hope it'll land for about half an hour.

Credit to Idah. Terrific movement and good header. Defeat to 10 men for that length of time would've been a bit embarrassing though

 

To be honest, I think that’s probably the way to go against a team parking the bus like that, especially when they’re down to 10. Current Irish team lacks real creativity but does have an aerial threat and based on tonight a few players who can deliver a decent ball.

Under Kenny we’d have recycled the ball all night and lost that 2-1. I don’t know about embarrassing, but it certainly would’ve made qualifying almost impossible for us. Now we’ve got a sliver of a chance.

 

I dunno mate I wasn't impressed with how they played against the 10.

Thought Hungary had their openings too and could've easily been 3-1 before the wee onslaught at the end. Before that equaliser Hungary did feel comfortable in the game. I think when you're up against 10 men there's nothing wrong with putting some crosses in. But would've been good to see a bit more imagination in their play at times instead of looking at the same one or two players to put balls into the box.

Probably another reason why Ireland looked so lifeless against 11 men. Not sure what the manager's gameplay was at all.

 

Yeah, I think Hungary are a better side than us tbh. If it stayed 11 v 11 I feel it would’ve ended up 1-3. Doherty in particular was badly exposed a number of times.

My expectations are low, so I’m happy enough with the draw as it gives the game on Tuesday a bit of meaning, and gives us a glimmer of getting a play-off spot. I would still say Hungary are favourites though.

 

Ireland have no chance of qualifying, Heimir is just not a good Manager and the team quality is *

 

Was delighted for Idah with that. He looked like a weights been lifted off his shoulders
