Absolute farce the way the club has handled the transfer window. Can only imagine what is going through Daizen's head now. Yang also.

    Paul McStay is a jinx.

He done trophy day 2019 within a year we where in a pandemic and the club imploded.

He done flag day this season and within a month we look to be heading into WW3 and thats just in our board room vs fans let alone putin vs the west!

Whether you rate some of them or not we were close to losing our 5 top scoring forwards from last year in Maeda, Kuhn, Idah, Kyogo and Yang. So 33, 21, 20, 12 and 6 goals so 92 goals between them and a further 38 assists so that’s 130 goal involvements.

We sold three of them with no clear plan to replace any of them and were looking to let two others go before the window shut but again didn’t have a plan to replace them.

I think there is an argument to let each of them go but then if you sell

    - Kyogo £10m
    - Kuhn £17m
    - Idah £7m
    - Yang £3m
    - Maeda at least £20m

That’s £57m of transfer fees in. You need a plan of what the * you’re doing to replace that. Especially when you add Jota is injured for 6 months.

You need at least 5 players in to replace those going out with Forrest covering that 6th choice until Jota is fit.

    We have signed -

    - Balikwisha £4m
    - Yamada £1.5m
    - Tournekti £5.2m
    - Ihneanacho £0m
    - Osmand £0.25m

So spent £11m on five players two the manager has no interest in, two right at the end of the window down the list and one panic buy due to failures. All they have done is pad us with guys that are likely to be deadwood.

I repeat as much as it’s a gamble letting all those go but you could probably add Trusty for £5m and Hatate £8m then you would have had £70m in. Spend £50m of that on the team.

They already had a head start with getting Tierney for free and Nygren for £1.25m and another £5.5m in for Frimpong moving.

They could have went out and bought a couple high end guys at £8-10m, then another 4 or 5 in the £5-6m range and then a couple of smart deals whether a loan or someone out of favour in a big league but has good utility, I would have put the like of an Ola Solbakken or Jesper Karlsson in that type of bracket.

We could have easily went into this season with -

    LB - Tierney (£0)
    LB - Nazinho (£5m)
    CB - Obert (£5m)
    CB/DM - Andersen (£5m)
    AM - Nygren (£1.25m)
    AM - Breum (£5m)
LW - Orjaesaeter or Manneh (£4-5m)
    LW - Karlsson (loan)
    RW - Solbakken (£1m)
    RW - Steukers (£10m)
    ST - Dolberg (£8m)
    ST - Bowie (£4.5m)

So that’s just names flung in there with close to estimated fees and I know you need to take in wages and Euro squad etc but that’s just over the £50m invested, squad strengthened with new young sellable assets some experienced older heads and guys in their prime.

You bring in at least £70m from sales and that’s before the money for moving deadwood on and your sell on for Frimpong.

A lot of deals to be done but if they had done a bit more in January to strengthen then that lightens the load. We are now heading into needing to do even more in the next two windows.

Any team that would sell 130 goals and assists all in one window deservs to lose. Thats * stupid. Meada will still be sold, but he will just have to wait. He can be first next time.

Can someone get in and plant a bug in that boardroom.
Would love to hear how many decisions they make in finding ways to * off the Celtic fans.

We’d be even more livid if we sold him! Jokes aside the fact we now have potentially an unhappy player because we are to useless to find a replacement!

Absolutely.. hes done more for Celtic since he signed than all those * on the board have done combined. The treatment of our players is disgusting.

He will be sold now for at best half if not worse now, this is down to repeated failures. We could have likely got more for Kyogo summer 2024 than we did in January 25, we could have had more for Kuhn in January 25 than summer and the same will go for Maeda only on a larger scale.

The way it’s looking we have lost most of Maeda’s contributions anyway as he looks like he would rather be somewhere else.

The lack of forward planning from the club is a massive problem.

His head will be back to normal. I believe him when he days he will try hard for us. If he doesn't, who will sign a slow, not very technically gifted player?

I don’t doubt he will try but the reality is will he be close to what he was for that spell last season? The rest of his time here suggests where he will be useful it’s unlikely to be to that level.

Tbh I doubt anyone would be as good as that patch. That was wild. Even if we paid £40m for a player they probably wouldn't do what happened there.

He will be gone by end of next transfer window.
Not blaming him but having a player who wants away being picked over other players in the squad will upset the dynamic in the dressing room as those players, especially the ones who are blocked from playing in European matches will not like being sidelined by someone who doesn’t want to be at the club.

Shades of the covid season again.

Players being forced to stay back then led to half arsed performances

We can't keep unhappy players. And to be honest, what players in the squad with any ambition, would want to stay here with how we operate?

With the treatment of Yang especially, players might think twice before joining this shitshow.

This is likely true but then even keeping Maeda we need to find more goals to replace that he isn’t a 30 goal a season forward and replace the others too.

The only way we are ever going to progress beyond what we done last year is get better at buying and selling players at the right time. Without that last year is probably our limit. The right time to sell Maeda was that summer but to allow that we need to be prepared.

I think your right. His form has not been great this first month or so of the season thats certainly true but his work rate and pressing has been there. Hopefully now that the window is closed he will be back to his best when he comes back from the international break.
Whats scarry to me about this move was that what it meant was Dolberg was really meant to be Maeda's replacement and Idah was been sold regardless. Facts are Maeda clearly now will be sold thats not in doubt and most likely it will be in January. So as things stand right now we still need to sign a striker thats first team ready as right now Maeda is the only one we have and now with Maeda likely to be sold it means we need 2 first team strikers in January. The * show of incompetence that this window was just gets deeper. Nicholson claims he is a Celtic supporter well if he truly had the best interests of Celtic at heart he would resign given the depth of his incompetence and mismanagement.
