My favourite ever footballer. Far from the best, but somehow his shortcomings (speed, stamina) made the special moments that bit more special. And there were plenty of those. On his day he was almost elegant to watch.

We could do with his vision and flair now, someone to run at defences and have a great shot, instead of the sideways and back pass * that we are getting at the moment.

I originally voted yes,but no he isn’t in the same category as McNeill,McStay or Larsson.

He gave us one of the most iconic moments in Celtic’s modern history though and will always be a fan favourite/cult hero and is in extremely good company in the same category as players like Di Canio,Boruc,Nakamura etc

    He’s a modern-day legend, but he’s not a top-tier, all-time-great legend, if that makes sense.
That goal against the filth where he cut in on to his left foot and left fly from distance was a * beauty.

    He’s not a legend. I don’t know a fan that doesn’t love him, but he’s not a legend.

    272 appearances for us

This surprised me, i never felt he was anywhere near that many games for us

    was he an 8 or a 10 ?

didnt he always have fitness issues or was it stamina ?

cracking player on his day that video above was sensational, he made it look really really easy as top top players do

He was a very good player for us, a fan's favourite, but not what I would call a legend.
Modern day legends to me are Henrik Larsson and Scott Brown.
The Lisbon Lions were all legends. That is set in stone.

Maybe ‘hero’ is a better term for Tom than ‘legend’?

Miss watching him float about the park, was a joy to watch. We haven’t had that guile replaced in midfield. Good example of how football has changed for the worst as spectacle as players like him are replaced by athletes rather than ability.

I actually think on pure ability he should have been playing at a much higher level, could do some ridiculous things with the ball.

As good as example of a pure 10 as you can find, unfortunately for him towards the back end of his career everyone moved away from playing a lone 10 so he had to run back the pitch which he wasn’t so good at:56:

Hate how social media team drop this video right in the middle of the current turmoil. Ain’t going to butter me up with some sublime Tam, gtf with this and let Desmond and his cronies burn.

A genius and a hunskelper. The goal at Ibrox from about 35 yards was insane.

Remembered fondly but not a legend. I'd say there's the Lions and then maybe 5 others.

    Kenny Dalglish
    Danny McGrain.
    Paul McStay.
    Henrik Larsson.
    Scott Brown.
