  2. A little over 2 years ago Rodgers had Liam Scales out the door, he was off to Aberdeen and only for an injury crisis that is what would have happened. He's now a mainstay in his defence.

Ryan Christie had a similar path to the Celtic team under Rodgers.

Yamada has had opportunities, he will get more and its up to him to take advantage of them when they come around.

Talking about our manager spiking careers because of his ego is mental talk. Yamada has made 3 appearances for us, he will get more chances and its up to him to prove how good he is.

  3.

  4. Rodgers 100% sidelined Gamboa because he wouldn't scrub playing for Costa Rica and was focused on playing in the WC.

    He can be utterly petty.

  5. So basically will get a chance if there's literally no other players and he has no other choice but to play them.

  6. But Yamada has had chances, he's played 4 games already. If he takes his chance like Christie and Scales did, Yamada will get his minutes. I think it's fair to say he's not convinced on Yamada now but he wasn't convinced on either Scales or Christie either first of all. Stuart Armstrong was another one as well who was slow to win Rodgers trust if I recall correctly but he won him round.

The allegation being put forward is Rodgers is out to spike a player's career which is mental.

The player in question is a 25 year old striker from the J League who hasn't scored in his last 25 or appearances.

  7. Gamboa also wasn't very good and couldn't defend to save his life.

Short of strikers, scramble to get a free agent in before the deadline and then leave one out of the squad..

    Makes zero sense to me.

  9. Another possibility is that Ihenacho's representatives made us promise that he would feature in the EL if he were to sign for us, meaning someone had to sit out. Given the fact that we did the deal after the window had closed and we were clearly desperate - I shudder to think what the wages offered were too.

  10. Sure, but that was secondary and not the point I was responding to.

  11. Potentially that played a part.

The most likely scenario is that Rodgers just doesn't rate Yamada. He has Kenny in there ahead of him too so maybe he just feels Kenny has more to his game that Rodgers likes than Yamada does?

Yamada will get chances from here until January, if he takes them he will get more - its as simple as that.

Rodgers might be wrong on Yamada, who knows, but to suggest that our manager is deliberately bombing someone's career for no other reason than being petty and trying to make points to our board is something I don't agree with.

I happen to believe that our manager will always try and pick the team and players he feels gives us the best possible chance of winning matches and protecting the squad, I may question his judgement in that regard but not his integrity.

  15. Tbh if the board let the manager pick majority of the targets it would be unrealistic epl players he’s want

  16. Kenny has been in and around the team for longer, performed well in the conference league and looked like our best forward option during the pre-season, think he's a natural shout.

Agree with what you are saying about the manager not doing this out of pettiness - not his style. We've had a tough couple of days on the transfer side of things, emotions are running higher and that seems like an over-reactionary theory.

  17. What Iheanacho done in one season is more than this boys done his whole career. I’ll trust in Brendan. He’s had him a month now to mull over him. I’m not a fan of Iheanaxho btw, I just don’t get why people getting their knickers in a twist he’s not picked

  18. It's not really about him picking the targets. It's about supplying with quality. In his first window we spent £20m+ on Tilio, Yang, Palma, Nawrocki, Lagerbielke, Kwon, Holm and none of them did anything for us or elsewhere yet to date.

As much as Idah, Trusty and Engels didn't impress overly for a similar outlay, we got a far bigger return from them.

We got Kuhn for £3m, if we get talent it I don't think Rodgers really cares how much they cost or where they came from - if they're good he will play them.

Anyone with any sense of football knowledge can see that Yamada has the best movement, work rate and looks the most promising of the strikers at the club just now. If Rodgers can't see that i question his competence.

Refusing to play "board signings" makes him a complete bully. Dont sink to the boards level for * sake. It's not the players fault.

I fully understand his anger but that anger will most likely end up costing us the league and the cups if we continue to play like we have the last 4-6 months.
