Anthony Ralston

I wasn't lauding him for that, just pointing out he did get the ball forward. Johnston has had much worse derby games. Actually thought Ralston was decent today and was positively involved in the game which often hasn't been true of Johnston and wasn't true of many today.

No one is saying you can't criticise him, not sure where that came from, just not agreeing with it. Sure you'll find some that will.

 

Slow, runs like an old man, limited technical ability, little urgency on the ball.

A trier for sure, but trying alone doesn’t make you good enough to play for this club.

 

I can understand why he played today, and he wasn’t our worst player (as faint as that praise is), but Donovan should be getting minutes ahead of him to stake his claim.

I’m not into comparing players by games. Johnston has had good games and bad games, like Ralston. Like any player ever.

But he’s notably a weak link in terms on build up play and attacking, that’s not a things we’ve discovered today. There were moments today that we really could have hurt them down the right, but it was slow, he never made a run or he passed it backwards .

 

Based on what is reasonable to expect, I thought he was ok today. Firmly in the middle of a rotten pack of players on both sides. Plenty of players disappointed but Ralston wasnt one

 

He definitely limited his runs, but hardly surprising given he's obviously carrying an injury. Wouldn't have been against Donovan coming on near the end, and think that'll happen over the next few months. Will be interesting to see how it progresses.

 

Don't think he was terrible but seemed a bit hesitant offensively. Probably just an extension of the whole team and system at the minute tbh. But can't criticise him too much.

 

I think he's an okay backup for domestic games, but miles off it for the bigger ones.

Would be playing Sarrachi there when Tierney is playing the other side.

Did well for a player carrying an injury. Should be up for set pieces instead of Tierney.

 

My mate seen him earlier. Said his leg was all strapped up, maybe donovan will be playing at right back then

Grim and I don't even rate Ralston..

 

Is he not on international duty. Surely he'd have withdrawn if carrying an injury? Big opportunity for him now with AJ out long term, hasn't really had many chances under Rodgers.

 

Obviously playing injured in the last 2 games, no surprise he's now strapped up. Guessing he'll have withdrawn from Scotland.

We do like to play an injured player.

 

I think Donovan with Engels filling in if need be is the option. Hopefully Ralston isn't out for long though
