Thinking about this I think we should switch shape to the one Man City played when they won the treble, which was a 3-2-4-1

I actually think this would be the way to get the best out what we have and would solve a few different issues

Tierney in a back 3 doesn’t have to bomb up and down all game but can carry the ball on occasion. I think we need to give JSP a chance as a defender who is better on the ball. He also looks a bit of a unit.

In midfield simplify what we want from
Engels you cover half the pitch defensively sweep up behind the right midfielder and when you get on it get it to that four in front of you.

McGregor similar you have cut half his workload in terms of covering the pitch he does the same as Engels on the other side.

Maeda, hit the byline get the ball across when on it and when it’s down the left get to the back post for tap ins.

Tourneki or Saracchi provide attacking width on the left and threat.

Balikwisha and Nygren are intelligent footballers get on the ball and make things happen in the half spaces and central areas get shots of and through balls.

Yamada be between the posts and be the instinctive finisher you were when he was scoring for fun last season at Kawasaki. Be a nuisance back in tie up defenders but mainly get in and around that six yard box position. Same if it’s Maeda in there.

 

4-2-3-1 allows us to be a flexible as possible for now with our attacking players

Dolberg was decent in the air. Idah although he wasn't as physical as we liked could be ok in the air at times and was a lump..

We literally have 3 kinda wee guys now. Yamada does look strong but no one good in the air..

 

Liking the idea of the 4231, could work

 

Shin has some some spring on him for a medium sized guy.
And maybe this big lump Iheanacho will be good in the air.

Maybe to soon. And NOT a board defence. I would get them * gone if that means strangulation.

But I dont think we are much Weaver than last season. We can still reach the level of last season and have only 1 excuse (Kuhn) not to do so, sporting wise.

Strongest 11 this season is just our weakest 11 from last season.

 

Completely agree my friend. Just want to give some hope that it is absolutely not a bad squad. Just dissapointed we didnt build on it

We're weaker in one position. Just so happens to be scoring but someone will step up, or shin up..
