Cash is taking a hammering as the western economies are failing and inflation is rampant, holding that much cash is mental.

It is after all just paper/plastic and confidence is what makes it valuable, they'd have been better years ago buying gold and holding on to that.

My thoughts exactly. This squad is in serious trouble and lacks the quality or goals needed to sustain a challenge until the next window, where we'll likely get let down again due to poor planning and penny-pinching.

Six points? I think that lead will disappear in no time.

I tried to stay hopeful and optimistic, and some fans probably still are. However, for me, this transfer window and the club's complete inaction have made us underdogs for the title, in my opinion.

Unfortunately, I really think the league is gone for us this year.

 

A shower of despicable *. The AGM will be the parading of the balance sheet trophy and sarcastic digs at the Huns. That’s the highlight of the sad miserable * year.

 

To go from taking Bayern Munich to the wire in the UCL to where we are now in a matter of months is almost indescribable incompetence. And this is a board who have previous in that regard. It's either that or deliberate sabotage. And given BR's constant public overtures about needing to improve the squad and kick on, the more conspiratorial among us would be forgiven for thinking there was something shady going.

Either way, heads have to roll now, or the dangerous game of chicken this board have been playing for years will finally see us on the losing end.

 

True, although I think that was more calculated gamble gone wrong than anything. I’m sure everyone inside the club expected us to beat Kairat, a team hundreds of places below us in the rankings with the squad we had. How else to explain the lack of any urgency to fill glaring holes in the squad prior to a match with £40 million on the line?

I just don’t buy that this board has suddenly let Desmond down, when this window has mirrored most of the previous ones. They must be doing what’s asked of them. What they’ve done fits with a model of how we’ve operated for many years and DD is complicit as anyone in that.

 

We will become a pariah club where nobody will want to get involved in transfer dealings. The murmurings have started already at the way we operate.

 

I wonder if the issue is that desmond just derives his satisfaction from seeing the clubs bank balance grow and from seeing the club turn a profit. Rather than any footballing reason. We are obviously just accumulating cash now for the sake of rather than any purpose.

Most billionaires get into football for the buzz of trying to raise the fortunes of the team but desmond doesnt fit that mould at all. He never shown any ambition to raise the clubs stature in europe. Its just a revenue stream to add to the pile. That seems to be where the enjoyment lies for him. It doesnt have to make business sense to have it lying there. Maybe he just gets a kick out of being able to run a profitable club year on year in a country like scotland. To him that could represent more of an achievement than getting to a cl quarter final.

However this makes things even worse... as long as we "dominate" in Scotland the board will be content. Europe will become even more of a shitshow in the upcoming seasons.

More profits means a bigger dividend payment he’s not the Owner he’s the majority shareholder so has more inclination to allow profits to go without any substantial progress.
