Celtic have shown loan interest in Strasbourg striker Sekou Mara, we understand.
The 23-year-old frontman has not featured for his club yet this season and is believed to be open to a move.
The Hoops, meanwhile, are desperate for at least one striker with Adam Idah closing in on a £7million switch to Swansea City and Mara is one they are understood to be tracking as they look, in an ideal world, for two forwards.
Kasper Dolberg remains the number one striker priority for the Scottish giants but the Dane would command a hefty transfer fee that Celts have not yet reached with Anderlecht.
A fee of around £8m would be enough to get the Belgians back to the table but it remains to be seen whether or not Celtic's money-men come up with that cash before tonight's deadline.
Mara, meanwhile, would be permitted to leave Strasbourg should an official offer be presented that they feel is suitable.
Mara is likely to be one of a number of options for Celtic on deadline day with another winger still sought. But the club have not yet asked the question of Strasbourg for Mara.
Parisian Mara has not exactly been a prolific frontman through his career with just 27 goals and 10 assists in all competitions from 143 appearances.
However he has played at a decent level with Bordeaux in Ligue 1 before he made a £11m move to Southampton in the Premier League in 2022.

He'll be a second striker alongside Dolberg.

As a backup.. fine. Would rather someone with a decent scoring record, though.

    Hope so bud.

Tin foil hat stuff, but I've the fear the club already knew dolberg was a non-starter before the weekend and used the story to buy time/we tried excuses.

Why would we even bother trying to sign him?

Pretty sure we could do better even as a 2nd choice.

Darrow Fofana I'd rather have. Or just sign another striker who has decent form behind him to fight it out. We should be aiming foe 2 quality strikers.
