It does sound impressive and that was largely my point, he’d shown a bit but not enough to be the counted on.

And your second point is the main thing I was trying to say, he showed something that could be moulded but not enough for us to mould that through what he was doing for us. We don’t have that patience, especially in his position.

The 19 appearances that you’ve mentioned is exactly what I did to explain that point. I’d argue against plenty though, at other teams he could get 20 starts, 90 minutes, a full season even. And he’d deliver enough for that to be ok. Not for us though. He had something to develop, just not at us.

I think what’s happened since leaving us shows that as well. He was sporadic at us, much like a more promising sort of version of what we’ve seen of Yang. I liked him, I didn’t have a single complaint about how he turned out here for us though. I don’t agree the rest of that is off topic though, it’s exactly why he wasn’t ever going to develop here. Both because the level he was at, and what is required to make it here. We all complain like * about our record of developing youngsters, but rarely acknowledge that we rarely do it just because of that. Oh’s very along those lines, even with being slightly older than the usual ‘youngsters’ that we talk about with that. To do it, that run of 19 games he needed to show it because that’s when we relied on him. He didn’t, and we replaced him

@Callum McGregor I broke it down stat wise replying to someone else, fair points. Went further into it my next comment.

I’ll sum it up with seemed like he could be decent, wasn’t good enough to be that here when he got the chance, and selling him and him looking like he has isn’t surprising but doesn’t reflect on him here or how we handled him at all.

So we agree he wasn't good enough. Fair enough.

Far worse, decent business all round for me, played a part done ok, sold for profit, getting more to come by the looks of it due to the sell on.

Compared to an Ajeti, it’s flawless that.

New transfer clap bectons for Racing Genk: Stuttgart has 28 million left for Oh
For the second time in 24 hours, Racing Genk can break its transfer record. After the departure of Tolu Arokodare (for 27 million euros to Wolves) the Limburgers can catch the grand prize for Hyeon-gyu Oh. Stuttgart is willing to put 28 million euros (including bonuses) on the table for the South Korean striker.

Oh is not participating in the match against Zulte Waregem tonight. Genk took over the South Korean from Celtic in the summer of 2024 for 2.7 million euros. In his first year, he was mainly the supersub of top scorer Tolu, but this season he started as the first striker of Racing Genk. In total, Oh played 47 games for Genk, in which he scored 14 times and gave 4 assists.

A while ago, Genk sent the interested Feyenoord walking, but Stuttgart's proposal is one that the Limburgers can hardly refuse. After the transfer of Nick Woltemade to Newcastle, the Germans have sufficient resources and want to pay no less than 28 million euros (27 million plus 1) for Oh. The German transfer market closes tomorrow at 6 pm.

    Replacement needed
A condition for the deal around Oh is that Genk can still attract a replacement. It's close. It has already hired a new striker with Aaron Bibout and the club has a lot of confidence in Robin Mirisola (who starts against Zulte-Waregem). There is a chance that a second extra striker will also be added.

Oh still has a contract until 2028 at the Cegeka Arena. Earlier this window, Genk sold Christopher Bonsu Baah for 17 million euros to the Saudi Al-Qadsiah and Tolu Arokodare for 27 million euros to Wolves.

That is mental he is never worth that. If true that will be another decent pay day for us as I think we have a hefty sell on clause.

Always thought there was a player in there, just needed to find a club that suited and valued him. Fair play to the boy.
