I tend to agree here outwith we’ve ruined his career. He’s had a great one.

But the jist of the point is right. He’s more than good enough for that role, but the problem is what’s around him, remember when we played Juve? Had Broony elbows into Pirlo’s chest and still us getting a lesson. He had Vidal next to him.

And that’s something McGregor in the 6 has never had the support of, the closest to it has been Matt O’Riley.

Callum McGregor has admitted that Celtic still 'need players', ahead of the first Glasgow Derby of the season.

Despite bringing in nine new on-field additions so far this summer, the club have been criticised for their lack of first-team quality signings, having only spent around £3 million on the likes of Benjamin Nygren, Shin Yamada and Hayato Inamura, before their £5 million transfer of Michel-Ange Balikwisha on Thursday.

24 hours later, Celtic announced the loan signing of Boca Juniors' Marcelo Saracchi, bolstering their defensive backline for the 2025/26 campaign. However, the skipper wants more reinforcements, as Celtic get set to fight on four fronts in all competitions this season.

"We speak about this in every window - we are at the stage where we need players. I think that is pretty evident, and I think everybody knows that and accepts it. We have brought a couple (of players) in over the last couple of days, and hopefully, there's more to come. [Sky Sports]

Hopefully, when the window shuts, we'll be in a much stronger place than what we were during the week (vs FC Kairat), and we draw a line under it. Everyone who is here will focus on the football, and then, can we go on and have a really good season?"

McGregor continued: "Hopefully, over the next five or six weeks, the team will begin to fly, and will have a real slickness to it. By that time, the European games come in, and we have to go all in. There is still so much to play for.

"If we let the disappointment of the Champions League override everything, then that's not the way to go, either. We have to draw a line and be positive on it."

We need a captains performance from him today. He needs to help Scales and CCV not just hide behind players pointing away.
I will say his other 2 midfielders need to help him as well. We can’t let ourselves be bullied today.
Cal is pivotal for us winning today he needs to step up

Let’s see the real Calmac, grab the game by the scruff of the neck and lead by example.

He’s been really poor so far this season… everything looks like it’s in slow motion.

He's Rodgers' pet and will NEVER be dropped.

Symptomatic of our pedestrian football and decline.

    Hide and seek champion again.
Looks like my overs bet for standing behind someone and pointing is a sure thing though.

I’ve seen statues harder to man-mark. You could pick a punter from the stands and they would eliminate him from the game.

He needs to do so much more but completely lacks athleticism.

    Yep.

Total cop out saying he's being man marked to absolve him of any responsibility. * move then and get away from your opponent. Demand more from your teammates to utilise the space being left.

    Cowardly.
