We tried, but the board took us off track with talks of defenders with * all to do with this signing, meaning no * could moan at them because we've aw been left in a daze if disbelief that someone might actually want to buy adam idah.

I'd view 20 goals + 10 assists or so as a successful debut season for a celtic striker. Its again subjective. I'm not expecting 40 goals. Very few strikers in our history have managed that.

I haven't been reluctant at all either so not sure what you're saying. You haven't asked me this question until now :giggle1:

Why do we have to agree on it as well? I'm really perplexed by your argument.

You're also saying that people are "worshipping" what you deem a distinctly average player despite dying on a hill of Idah being just as good. If Dolberg is distinctly average then what the * is Idah.

There's more to being a striker than just goals. Dolberg would improve our forward line massively and be a far more reliable focal point than Idah. Bringing others into play easier and in general providing a composure that our team lacks.

He scored 13 goals from play for Anderlecht I the league last season in 31 starts. I wouldn't call that carrying and he seems to divide opinion among their supporters.

I can't confess to having watched him at Anderlecht so I don't have an opinion on how good he has or hasn't been but his stats don't blow me away.

The 3/4 games I’ve seen from Dolberg. What a player. Or 4 good game :56:

People need to stop looking at goals and assists and judging how guys play. He is a goalscorer, but he’s a * player

I don’t think people are slaughtering Idah for not scoring enough goals. 20 goals as a bench warmer has been used, or was used certainly at the start of the window as a reason to give him a chance as first choice after having a full preseason under Rodgers.

Most are slaughtering him for just not being involved enough and not holding up play or bringing others into play. He’s just not learned and adapted to do that yet and as such, the confidence has dwindled further, culminating in a toxic fan base who have rightly or wrongly turned on him, because of the boards inexplicable decision to not strengthen the forward line and give him support with wingers who are at least semi creative.

Idah scored goals but his general link up play and footballing brain are miles off it, right now.

I know that. I pointed out that Dolberg is primarily viewed as a goalscorer. He is not a speed merchant, he's not a workhorse, he's not a big powerhouse. He's there to score goals and link the play. His goal scoring stats don't set pulses racing.

We can all agree Idah wasn't up to the task but he still scored goals and got big ones. I don't see a player who is a sure thing to come here and rip it up looking at his career trajectory to date. I'm on the fence on him.

I'm utterly stunned that this balanced and substantiated viewpoint has brought about such a furious backlash.

It will be interesting how it works out but from what I'm reading about a player who will rip it up here, the bar is set low for him.

    It's just a forum, don't take it so personally:giggle1:

I think the reason most are excited at the prospect of him is his pedigree. He certainly is different to most of our usual targets and would instantly be able to step in and HOPEFULLY make a difference. Ofcourse there isn't any guarantees with anyone.

Also factor in that this window has been a * show, we are still in the same week of being dumped out the UCL and we have a game against the Huns tomorrow and currently don't really have a no9 we trust to call upon.

Fans are clinging on for any sort of hope.

Im excited by the name and remember him being really good and highly rated at Ajax but did he not have a bad injury and massive drop off or am I thinking of someone else?

He was diagnosed with Diabates in his early 20s. I think that coincided with a slight drop off at Ajax. Could be wrong. But he was genuinely lauded as their great hope and for a while was living up to it...ibrahimovic levels of praise and excitement.

He was still good at Nice and has been good for Anderlecht.

Loan moves to Spain and Germany didn't work.

Was more aimed specifically at the praise for him being dangerous going forward and some delivery. That used to irritate me that. He was tidy, he was Greg Taylor on the right.

    * more European goals than Taylor as well. But it was Mudryk £100m form and Vini Jr mostly, so also unfair that
