He is much better positionally than Ralston, no doubt. Not as strong, not as good in the air and not as bold in 50/50’s. But that’s more Ralston that season, he’s been coached into not committing to challenges now, and that’s left him worse as a defender. Never been his forte.

But, more dangerous goal threat, moe creative, better passer

 

Best thing to do is ban anyone who thinks Ralston was better than JJ and save us all from this utter ridiculous conversation,

Because as I've said before - stats are independent, they are objective. We have to agree on how many goals a player scored.

Dolberg is 28 next month. His stats are definitely padded by penalties, his career has been fairly disappointing since he left Ajax 5/6 years ago.

A striker who outscored Dolberg from play last season in the Belgian league for a mid table club, is 4 years youngers than Dolberg and is a full Serbia international just went for €5m to Lecce a few days ago. Like the fee we paid for Idah, we are getting are pants pulled down here but that's on the board and nobody else.

I think it's very clear now certain people are going to set the bar very low for Dolberg. It's outrageous to suggest that we actually view players in an objective manner.

We've brought Dolberg into score goals. What's the target for him this year. Why so reluctant to tell us what you think he needs here?

 

While goals are important, it's not the only important thing. Does he link up and create for others? Assist? Create space for others.

 

You made that bit up. Why do you guys have to be so dishonest? I didn't say Ralston was better than JJ. I just don't think there was a whole pile in it. JJ has really torn it up in his career playing for Legia Warsaw and a mid table Bundesliga team hasn't he.

Another case in point of some of the loonies in our fan base hero worshipping distinctly average footballers because they come from countries with a decent footballing pedigree.

Absolutely and I would regard you as one of the more sensible contributors here.

I'm just highlighting the completely irrational nature some of our players are judged. Idah got slaughtered for not scoring enough.

I'm just surprised how the same people who demand such high standards from certain players have such low standards for other players and why their aggression levels explode when I highlight this.

 

His li k-up play is superb and the reason why he's never just been valued as a goalscorer. However, if you want to go down the route of stats, he scored three goals for Denmark when they got to the semis of the Euros in 2021, and last season carried Anderlecht with 24 goals, their second top-scorer getting just 5. There are more to stats: important goals, big games, bearing the responsibility of the team and producing.
