Yeah my thinking is you could actually move on Trusty and Bernardo say get £7-8m for them and bring in Andersen and he would get plenty of game time between the two positions.

That is based on JSP coming in post international break to be starting left centre back, Scales to cover him and having CCV, Murray and Andersen for the right handside.

 

Tbh I think a defensive mid should be priority since 2013.

Willum Willumsson at Birmingham is very good. Skilful AM who's a real unit too. Probably outside what we're willing to pay now that City are doing better and have money behind them but you never know. They signed him from Go Ahead Eagles too, same club that Breum plays for.

 

I'm all for us making a double swoop for the Hibs pair Mulligan and Bowie.

 

Could have had Mulligan on a free couldn't we? Might be wrong. Either way we need some drive in midfield. Bowie looks promising but we'd need a more experienced CF too.

Mulligan would fix the midfield, and Bowie would make all the difference upfront, especially with Balikwisha
there now and a right winger still to come ?.
I think we would get the pair together for less than the £8/10M they want for Dolberg.

RB and LW, you mean. He’s a right-footed winger, and in a Rodgers system that generally means he’ll be left-sided (with the occasional exception of Forrest, who cuts in on either side).

You might long for the times or the systems where that wasn’t/isn’t the case, but that’s not the manager we have or (generally) the era we’re in.

Fwiw, I think he wouldn’t be a bad shout for depth.

 

Rodgers used Forrest on the right wing in his first stint. Given that Ralston isn't the quickest, we need a pacy winger in front of him that could do what Forrest did. Shayden Morris fits.

We’ve had plenty ‘pacy wingers’ (Kühn one example) who doesn’t fit the old school ideal you obsess over, and who cut inside plenty, so let’s not pretend this is an argument against/for pace. Forrest also drives inside as much as he plays outside.

Also, I’m not saying Morris doesn’t fit (again, you’ve no excuse for trying to imply that I was, because I made that clear before), but in a Rodgers system, that’s at LW.

You need to drop your biases and start listening to what other posters are saying, rather than deliberately distorting their arguments into straw men.

The thing is, Rodgers has used a standard winger before, not just inverted ones. That's what I'm saying. But yes, I do prefer 1990-s football (I was born in 1991).
