This isn’t how we treat our people and our players

He’s not good enough but we’re better than this as a club

    Exactly.

I get where Rodgers is coming from, we commonly sell our best players and at times we dont even replace them.

This isnt similar, even if we didnt sign a ST to replace Idah, I think he is clearly done here, and blocking him from a move wouldn't benefit anyone.

I understood where Rodgers came from when he vetoed the Boyata deal, he was still important to us and we had next to no one to replace him, not the case with Idah.

For me, rare thing we dont replace those we sell, or bring in someone who transforms the team in a different way if it’s not like for like.

Give it 6 weeks from him leaving opinions will be more level headed. 7 weeks after he may be world class but. Small window

Was Idah a big success no he wasn't unfortunately he didn't kick on from the really good spell when he initially came on loan. But assuming the sale to Swansea does go through the about 2.5m euro difference he easily paid for with his 20 goal contribution last season which included a really good goal to get us a 1-1 draw in the last derby of the season, a pk in the shootout that helped us win the League Cup Final as well of course as his crucial involvement in the og that got us that late win against Young Boys Berne to get us through the league phase in the Champions League. Quote frankly some of the venom and vitriol directed at Idah on here lately has been very poor to put it mildly. Was Idah a big success no but he had his moments and will financially will have paid that 2.5m euro difference in transfer fees so to speak if this Swansea deal goes through. IMHO he seems to be a player who struggled to cope with the mentality required to be a Celtic player. It happens, its disappointing but the depth of the vitriol and venom directed towards him is very disappointing to see. Personally I hope this deal goes through and maybe given the lower pressure environment of Swansea its a good one for him career wise.

That’s what I mean blevel opinions. I replied to the comment refuting he’s dreadful signing.

Not one arguing bout big success like the start of your comment.

i think somewhere between the big success or dreadful.

Wrong guy, I’ve always stuck up for Taylor :56:

Rodgers fault that’s happening though, his set up is like Taylor is there to invert sill but obviously now it’s Tierney he higs the touchline

Idah shows exactly how the player trading model can work in a funny kind of way. People often say when Celtic spend this kind of money on a player that its a massive gamble for the club, but in reality, as long as you get players with a certain profile there is a very high chance that if a signing doesn't work out as expected, you can move the player on and recoup most of what you paid.
Just another reason why the reluctance to go and properly invest in the team this summer just seems so ridiculous.

Idah wasn’t the type of player that could play the lone striker role, which is the way Brendan Rodger’s sets up his teams.
It’s a pity it didn’t work out for him. Really liked him.

I’ve said since he came in I don’t think anyone thought he was worth the fee. He was a point from Rodgers about being backed or no.

Agreed! We paid over the odds and got our fingers burned. He came in, still contribute, but ultimately not the man for us going forward. So we move him on and look for a better alternative.

It's rumoured he is headed back to Glasgow and we won't ok the move until we finalise Dolberg. Rumour also has it that Swansea have set a deadline on the deal for 9pm tomorrow.

If there is truth in these rumours, I suspect idah will still be a celtic player when the window closes. Really really hope I am wrong and it's all rubbish

I don’t think the fingers burnt description fits. He scored CL goals, more in a season than most in more than the 1, 20 goals across the season. A derby goal, counting the loan back. Think his return was worth £2m.

We paid that for Henri Camara’s loan fee 20 years ago

I get what you’re saying, but Rodgers is absolutely going about this the right way. The board will know this is a great opportunity to get rid of Idah and not take much of a hit. It’s not really a hit at all because he has contributed more than the shortfall in the transfer fee. We all know how this board operate however, Rodgers especially does. Trying to force their hand is unfortunately how it has to be with these *. Basically, go and get me Dolberg and Idah leaves.

If the deal falls through due to him not being released until his replacement is signed is pure * mindness by Rodgers, yet again at the eleventh hour we are doing our important transfer business, who or what the * is the club’s strategy over transfers as it appears to have turned into a * contest now.

Can’t really blame Brendan on this one

The boards utter failure to get a replacement in is the problem

Tbh I think stupid * had more of a say in this guys signature, hes from England and thats his kryptonite unfortunately.

I would laugh if he bombed this season and he was then put out on the usual loans until his contract expires and we get sfa.
