I actually think we are doing the correct thing with him. Probably need to build him up with time to shake these injuries off.

Criminal not to have a backup though

Again, like CCV it's feckin hilarious KT is getting stick.
In fact the whole back 4 and GK is not the problem, the issues are elsewhere.

That’s it to be fair, normally we have issues with the back and not the middle and final third.

His distribution with the ball when under pressure is a worry. CCV has been far too safe with his passing and Tierney has struggled when put under significant pressure.

I also think that Maeda hasn't been the same player down that side since KT came back. I just feel something is off.

Definitely. KT and Maeda both want to occupy the same space. Maeda is then having to cut inside and he's less effective there. That's why I think Jota/Balikwisha and Tierney will be far better down that side from a creative point of view.

Maybe Maeda really should play through the middle. The jury's still out on Jota and KT for me. Maybe one for the unpopular opinion thread :56:

We wouldn't have had to take the gamble on him if our recruitment was better.

Bolingoli, laxxalt, bernabei, Valle, all brought in to be an upgrade on Taylor or at least provide competition.

Tierneys distribution under pressure has always been an issue. It was his biggest weakness before he left for Arsenal. He tended to punt it down the line first sight of a press on him as he is quite one footed.

His positives though were excellent determination, great delivery, good pace to overlap/get by the defender and good 1 on 1 defending. The issue will be is if his pace has gone he won’t be able to do those things he did so well quite as good anymore.

Dunno what people are seeing. It’s just because we lost an important game every player is “done” now.

He’s been absolutely fine. Played probably more than we thought he would. Been pretty solid defensively, takes on his man no bother still and has a couple of assists already.

Regarding Maeda hes just not very good himself at linking play as his touch and passing is poor. Dunno why folk are pretending him and Taylor ripped up teams playing 1 2s all game.

If you’re going to have a LB who can only last 70 mins then you HAVE to have a quality back-up. Others teams will rub their hands and target the LB position as we throw a donkey on in the last 20 mins and hope for the best.

He will need some time but he noticeably looks a bit slower and I'm just waiting for an injury. Needs to be managed very carefully.

He'll get hacked to pieces on Sunday. Guarantee this will be in their game plan to force him off injured

I don’t even see what others are saying about him, I think we are dug * as a team at the moment and that’s making everyone look a bit worse than they are. Even CCV.

He’s definitely not done. He was good for Arsenal at the end of the season. He’s also looked sharp at times like the Aberdeen assist. People panicking way too early.

Jesus * man, every single * was saying we had * better not overplay him because he’d be willing.

Manage him carefully as we can.

Make sure to not be too tempted just to keep him on until we know for sure what his body can take.

And it’s such a surprise we’re actually doing it. It won’t be that all season it’s very early on in the season. But he will get rested even after we’re happy he’s full throttle for 90 mins.

We’re doing this correctly. We were * terrified we wouldn’t and then he’d be *.

and then we will complain about them doing what we hoped. Mental

He’s struggled today. Hope it’s more a case of him needing time to get up to speed playing every week, rather than him being done. Time will tell.
