An established player who will have little sell on value. This cant be us.

 

After doing a bit of digging I'd be inclined to add a bit of caution to this one. The Belgian league is a 40 game league, they do a split similar to Scotland, every team plays each other twice and the league is then split with the top 6 teams playing each other another 2 times.

Again not something that makes me feel too assured. It actually doesn't actually compare that well to many of our players.

I'm prepared for the abuse that will no doubt come from highlighting this but is anyone else a little dubious about that kind of return?

 

If this can accelerate as quickly as idahs move out, we could be laughing come Sunday

 

That's in euros though, it works out as a goal a game in Scottish money

 

We should be signing Nathan De Cat from them as well.

He is playing for a pish Anderlecht side, not a dominant Celtic side.

 

I think its decent for the price quoted. We'd struggle to get a young consistent 15-20 goal a season striker for under 10 million in a decent league

 

No real point in comparing with our players. It's a totally different situation. Anderlecht are one of the better teams in the league, sure, but that league has 6 or 7 teams who probably fancy their chances to compete at the start of each season. It's highly competitive and teams like Anderlecht have more bad weekends than we do. They won 18 of 40 league games last season.

 

Haha you’re right though we need a CF in even if AI deals falls through. Just get it done and preferably before Sunday.

 

Not every player needs a sell on value. Players like this bring on those around you quicker. We seem to miss that point.

 

Lining up on Sunday with a front three of Maeda - Dolberg - Balikwisha would be some buzz.

They did finish 4th though and are traditionally the giants of Belgian football.

I just wouldn't be taking it as a guarantee he is going to come in and be hitting 20 SPL goals a season for us, which is probably what we want in a striker and Dolberg's game seems to be about his goals really. I don't think he's the type of powerhouse forward, he doesn't have blinding pace or a serious work rate than could make up for the goals not flowing.

 

2 points to this A) The Belgian league is very competitive the amount of different winners in the last 10 years is mental B) Anderlecht are scoring about 30 to 40 less goals than us in a season and Dolberg alone is pulling in a 1/3 of the their goal haul a season, involved in more as I think his assist figures are decent for a centre forward.

Last season for example over a 38 game season we had an expected team goal rating of 98.8 xg Anderlecht 57.4 xg

Very rough working but if we had Dolberg in our side last year and he could covert the at the same level he was in Belgium then hypothetically he would have had a 31 goal season

 

That's fair enough but that return is more middle of the road. Obviously you'd expect playing in Scotland will present more chances to him but those kind of stats aren't what would blow your mind from a guy who should be at his peak.

If he arrives we'll judge but I do think people may be getting a little carried away on the level they think Dolberg is at, myself included initially.

We could even have a Dillberg mascot before the games. I would suggest equipping them with a sparkler but probably not worth the pyro related fine we'd receive. Maybe just waving their phone about with the torch on would suffice.
