Thats good news. EL will be our only pull more or less.

CL would have pulled him here instantly.

This would be a big departure from our model. £7-8m for a 27 year old is not something I can recall us doing before. Maybe Julien perhaps?

It's not one we are buying to flip later on at a profit.

    Decent pedigree though.

I'd be willing to say if we had brought in Balikwisha and Dolberg 2 weeks ago we'd have qualified for the CL...

If we would have kept luis palma and played him instead of yang we would have won through

This is so so sad and ridiculous but it is true. That tiny, tiny margin of trickery would be enough to edge it.

One I've wanted us to sign for years. Will be absolutely delighted if this comes off.

Think Palma is actually worse than Yang.

Yang is erratic but he actually has the ability to beat players when he's on it. Palma runs like an arthritic granny

It’s basically reinvesting the idah fee

Would like to see us go for Angulo who we were linked with earlier in the window too from Ajax.

I'd still place much greater emphasis on another winger than a striker, actually 2 new wingers than a striker.

Mate, with Idah gone we have Maeda, Yamada and Kenny as our strikers. Another winger is needed, aye, but striker is a glaring priority.

It is and I'm all for it.

I'm just saying it's a departure for the board. Given Idahs age there was always a chance of flipping him for a profit or recovering your fee. Dolberg is not that type of signing we typically make. A reasonably large outlay for a player who is right now in the peak of his career.

I don't disagree it's not but I'd be much more comfortable with Maeda, Kenny or Yamada staring through the middle than Yang or Forrest out wide. With Balikwisha in the door we are still potentially just 1 injury or suspension away from Yang or Forrest starting. That's why I'd be looking at 2 more wingers in first

I think he's a better striker than a winger though. The best football he played last season was when he moved centrally.

He's great along the from 3 but a striker hes not. If we are relying in him as our main goal threat i think we are in trouble. The two misses in the qualifying round sum him up for me.. love him to bits but an out an out goal scorer, dont think so

Agreed, which makes another striker even more of a priority.

His finishing isn't the most reliable but if we have the right wingers there his movement and speed causes absolute chaos in the opposition defence through the middle. We saw it last year when Jota and Kuhn were available. We just need the right players out side supplying the bullets.
