Swansea City are weighing up a possible move for Celtic striker Adam Idah.


However, WalesOnline understand the 24-year-old is merely one of several options currently being assessed ahead of the close of the window, and a deal isn't believed to be at an advanced stage, despite reports elsewhere.



The Republic of Ireland international has scored 29 goals in 76 games for Celtic, but appears to be be primed for an exit from Parkhead before the close of the summer window. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here.

When quizzed on possible interest in the forward, Swans boss Alan Sheehan himself said: "He's a player I'm aware of, obviously. An Irish international, so I do know him.

"He's a good player, but I don't want to comment on anybody that's not our player."



A striker has been at the top of Swansea's wishlist for most of the summer, with the club already missing out on several targets.

There were moves to sign Richard Kone and Oli McBurnie earlier in the window, but they ended up going to Queens Park Rangers and Hull City respectively.

Kevin Carlos and Willem Geubbels were also previously the subject of interest. Both went elsewhere.

We need to try and find him a club where nobody is aware of him.

Swansea City head coach Alan Sheehan has played down speculation linking the Championship club with Celtic striker Adam Idah.

But amid reports that the Swans have opened talks with the 24-year-old, Sheehan has spoken of his admiration for the player.

"He is a player I'm aware of obviously, an Irish international so yeah I do know him. A good player but I don't want to comment on anybody that's not our player," said Sheehan.

Celtic paid a fee thought to be in the region of £9.5m to bring Idah from Norwich City in August 2024 but he has struggled for form.

It is thought the Hoops could consider selling or loaning him if a replacement can be found in the coming days.

Sheehan is understood to be on the lookout for a striker to compete with the likes of Zan Vipotnik, Liam Cullen and Bobby Wales.

"We're having a look at where where the balance is with what we have in the building and on what we want to improve depth-wise," added Sheehan.

"Because if we lose a player here or there, we look a bit lighter in some areas, so that's something to to go through in the next couple of days."

* me, that's a bit of a leap, Sutton didn't do as well as expected at Chelsea, but he still did ok, and had a good history with Norwich and Blackburn, and was well worth the £6m we paid.
