To be fair I think we bottled this tie as we didn't know much about them and probably expected them to be better.

Treated them with too much respect, when in hindsight they were probably just happy to have qualified for the Europa and chanced their lucky at timewasting and sitting back and seeing what would happen.

In the Europa games will be more open.

What’s the difference between the CL and EL in revenue? Anyone know?

 

Around 15M difference in terms the initial qualifying fee I think

The additional fees in terms of bonus for wins, draws and making extra stages is much higher in CL also though.

E.G a win in CL = 2.1M. For Europa = 450k

Making last 16 in CL = 11M. For Europa = 1.75M

So it could wind up being worth easily anywhere between 25-30MM difference for us. Or rather 25-30MM to the rainy day fund.

 

When you look at those pot 4 teams and low pot 3 teams its a * abomination we are out absolute disgrace

Had a look at the Europa League teams Projected to qualify and already there

Best case:

Pot 1 - Zagreb and Lille
Pot 2 - Ferencvaros and Plzen
Pot 3 - Sturm Graz and Ludogrets
Pot 4 - Brann and Malmo

Worst case

Pot 1 - Roma and Villa
Pot 2 - Lyon and Fenerbache
Pot 3 - Bolonga and Nottingham Forrest
Pot 4 - Stuttgart and Celta Vigo

 

Our coefficient points are 33.000 so if we were still in we'd be a bawhair above those low pot 4 teams.

Nobody wants to be in the Europa but at the very least we could look at it as a chance to improve our coefficient points which could end up being beneficial for champions league qualifiers next year and keeping us a seeded team.

People for whatever reason seem to think we will * the EL and in reality we aren’t even close to being a shout to win it. We should be that level if we were run properly.

Hope the mentality in the camp is that we can go deep though, theres not one team in it that id be surprised if we beat.

 

EL will be flat, fans only want to be in the CL, even though its more like our level.

 

I don’t think we underestimated them, overestimated them, treated them with too much respect or any of that. We were just stifled to the point where we couldn’t create more than a few clear cut opportunities over 210 minutes of football, due to a crippling lack of pace, creativity and technical ability.
