    Honestly, where else in world football do you get the manager and the club captain literally begging for signings in the media?

    * shameful.

    Such a well ran club though.

    Add to that the manager publicly questioning if the club actually wants to progress and be better

    Right there must be something going on. No way is this how a club with our financial muscle behaves. Maybe selling up? * bids for a 2 cap Tunisian is all wrong.

    Celtic have reportedly pulled the plug on their interest in Jakob Breum following their exit from the Champions League.

    Transfers have dominated the talking points during all 210 minutes of the playoff showdown with Kairat Almaty - as chants of 'sack the board' rang out from the Parkhead faithful during the goalless two legs.

    Defeat in the penalty shoot-out has cost Celtic a £40million jackpot - and looks to have sparked a rethink on their plans with deadline day fast approaching.

    Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Mareclo Saracchi are still set to arrive in Glasgow's east end imminently while a bid has been turned down by Hammarby for winger Sebastian Tounekti.

    That follows reports from Voetbal Primeur that the long-standing interest in wide man Breum has been brought to an abrupt end after Celtic saw multiple bids knocked back by the Go Ahead Eagles.

    The Eredivise outfit have not moved from their £5.1m valuation with the report suggesting the Parkhead money men have now walked away from the deal as they look to "rein in spending."

    That stance from the club appears to have taken a big-money move for CFR Cluj striker Louis Munteanu off the table.

    The Romanian international striker is said to be on Brendan Rodgers' radar, with the Hoops boss desperate to add more firepower before the close of play on September 1.

    Celtic reportedly saw a £6.9m bid for the player turfed out this summer while Stade Rennes, Greek giants Olympiacos and Valencia in La Liga also credited with an interest in the 23-year-old, who banged in 25 goals last season.

    The striker has gone AWOL in an attempt to force a move away from the club - but Cluj are sticking to their £10.5m valuation and don't want the striker to depart.

    Club president Cristi Balaj told Digi Sport: "I don't want to talk about Louis Munteanu anymore, but he clearly needs support and to be properly advised.

    "To be fair, he must give his consent and listen to what opinions he wants. But there is only one truth. You don't always make the best decisions.

    "We have always tried to tell him the truth and we have always spoken nicely about him.

    "When you don't deal with the avalanche that appears in the public space, then you don't make the best decisions.

    "I would really feel sorry for him to suffer and for there to be major repercussions, from my point of view we are not heading in a good direction. We will not sell for a price we do not want."

    £40M down the chube.

    We'll end up with a washed up left back and a winger LTB.

    "reign in spending" talk about a slap in the face after last night. And for that matter who's fault is it we are not in the champions league yes the very same members of the board who have deliberately failed to strengthen the team to make sure we got through in the first place.

    Its not too late to reliquish the title either if the board want to really outdo themselves

    I think we are in relying on rangers to abject territory because from the vibe of the players and manager they are as close to downing tools as the fans are.

    There will be a number in that dressing room thinking about a move and getting on to their agents id say. The begginings of checking out

    How the * do you rein in spending when you're spending * all.

    Can you get less than selling your top assets and not replacing them?

    * *!
