And Rodgers record in the CL is far superior to Anges. Something I'm pointing out and you're continuing to ignore.

We had a much bigger budget that Bodo, we should have been beating them. We didn't. Instead we got hammered and humiliated over 180 minutes. I can remember the fury at the time and the criticism that came its way. You are engaging in a whitewashing of history here now because you have misty eyed nostalgia and can't speak objectively.

Ange only had one proper tilt at the cl though. And he was brand new it in only his second season of football in europe.

He didnt get a crack at the new format which is a lot easier to make the knockouts.

Would he have improved with experience? I dont know. With spurs he definately adopted a more conservative approach to europe on route to winning the europa.

Major surgery will require money and it will require our board signing players at a frequent rate. We don't want to part with money on the players and the people with the expertise to bring the players in.

And we had some howling results.

He couldn't even beat a poor Shakthar team who played a neutral ground. Leipzig away could have been 5 or 6, the home game was desperate stuff. There is clear misty eyed revisionism on Ange's time here. He did a great job rebuilding in his first season but every season Rodgers is losing a number of our best players.

It's not Rodgers fault he is being forced to sell key players and replace them with inferior ones at a fraction of the price now is it?

With spurs he was managing one of the top 2 favourites foe the competition.

    I don't think it's comparable.

Forrest and yang werent on the ball the entire game. We had a midfield three that produced about 2 good passes in 210 mins of football. Full backs that cant take a throw in. Centre backs that cant move the ball forward.

There is much more to the abject display than forrest and yang. If only it was those two that were solely to blame.

Aye but I thought you were talking about his ability to lead a celtic team deep into europe. Not specifically last nights game.

Personally I don't think he would have done much with us in Europe. He wasn't pragmatic enough, something folk are now saying about Rodgers.

As with any past relationships, there's a bit of romanticism going on. I remember most of us wanted him to be less stubborn at the time and even last season in his thread, after watching spurs, it was still the same.

People can say that "aye but at least we'd have shots and it'd be good to watch" but that wasn't what they were saying at the time. It works both ways. If ange was in charge vs Bayern Munich we would have been far more likely to lose that tie a lot heavier.

You could that attack in Man City or Barcelona's team last night and they're struggling to come out with a goal. That's the reality of. Some of us have been saying for weeks that if we got into a CL qualifier with an attack like that, we were asking for trouble.

We got what we are asking for and guys like you are not acting stunned that the same players we have all collectively been saying aren't good enough couldn't get the business done.

Go back and read the comments after the League Cup final 3 months ago. We all knew where the issues lay, we made no attempt to fix them and we paid the price. I'm stunned you somehow think this is surprising. It's not as if we went out there and lost the tie 4-0 and got battered. We hardly coughed up a decent chance in 210 minutes but paid the price because our attacking threat was non existent when our manager has been bleating for 8 months that we badly needed goals and quality to be added.

There is one place where the blame lies and its the coffin dodgers in that boardroom.

The options he was given by the board for a game of this magnitude, were a disgrace.

However, to just go with the same system was arrogant and negligent. He didn't change a thing even though it was clear Yang and Forrest were never making an impact.

It's a collective failure and he's part of it..

Im stunned that anyone who has watched celtic over the last 8 months would think rodgers has no case to answer for here.

Is he the primary culprit? No clearly not. But fixating on forrest and yang is simplifying things. And absolving way too many of culpability.

That's fair but its hardly a big shock. Our attacking options aren't good enough to make me feel comfortable we can win any game now domestically. I don't think it was arrogant, you could argue negligence alright but he wants the team to play a certain way, he wants the board to provide him with those players and the board failed him. The board have taken away key players from him every season and not backed him adequately to replace them.

In saying that, the last 3 big games we've played - the Cup final v Aberdeen, the game at Ibrox v Rangers and last night - Daizen has butchered 2 1 on 1 chances. We all know he's not clinical but if it was a case we had proper quality attackers available to us I can guarantee you we would have won all those games. We can afford them but our board prefer to spite our manager than support him.

The same as the hun cup final last season when we scraped by narrowly on penalties, they set up to nullify us every game after that and it worked, but he still didn't change anything.

I don't see how concentrating on yang and forrest simplifies anything. They are virtually the only wide option we have.

I think most would have put maeda up top before last night's game, given the options available.

Rodgers probably should have got more out of our team but he should never have been left so threadbare for any CL qualifier

I think you are completely diminishing that the only available players in the system our manager prefers and has been crying out for upgrades in, are nowhere near the level required for a club like Celtic, is astonishing.

We all know where the issues lie. We have conceded 1 goal in 570 minutes of action, that's not where the issue lies. The issue lies up top, the issue lies in the lack of quality we have up there. 8 months the manager has been bleating on about the lack of quality he has up top and 8 months later we are going into games of huge magnitude with the same players the manager doesn't think are up to it and Rodgers has been vindicated. Its those players who have let us down - we can quibble about Yamada or Kenny but they're not he kind of quality we need to bring us to CL players - at best they are squad filler right now who might improve but we are bereft of quality in attack and that's why we went out last night. It's the reason and it's been flagged for 8 months.

This is it. The current board are a cancer to the club. Utter charlatan *. They should be targeted every opportunity in and around CP.

I see a tightening of ways after Rodgers leaves and he will. Another Lennonesque appointment. Maloney probably.

They'll be delighted we're away and then there's the international break. But we shouldn't let up on them till they're gone. They've * CL football for us for a good few years now.

    Traitorous scum!!!!

We held Tillio hostage for weeks because we didn't have the numbers to let him go yet folk are slaughtering the manager for a pish poor forward line.
