We've had no serious domestic competition for 13 odd years. Before that one other team. Domestic dominance doesn't hold much water with me. We've been in a two horse race since 1988. One horse died for a while.

For me domestic dominance should a given and its something the board hide behind

Exactly what I’ve been saying. Why’s * moaning about £9m for Idah then?

Really? Who was the last Scottish team to reach a European final mate?

Let's be honest (and this might not be popular to say out loud), the huns helped us massively here. We've had some brilliant seasons domestically but let's not forget in the 3 seasons before they went into administration, they won 3 in a row. We were poor in the league through 2007/08 and then dipped even more over the next couple of years. We were also pretty poor in the league overall for the first half of 9IAR. Domestic success is obviously our bread and butter and we've had some great teams and great moments, but it's rather masked some underlying issues.

Look at transfer fees, yes we've broken our record a couple of times but part of that is just inflation; Hartson and Edouard were record signings, they came 17 years apart. The Scottish transfer record is still the oldco signing Tore Andre Flo, that was 25 years ago FFS!

However someone wants to argue about whatever success we've had, the fact is we've failed to strengthen from a position of strength. Take our CL last 16 run in 2013; rather than reinvesting to improve the squad, we sold Wanyama, who was absolutely key to that run, for about £12m. We needed to invest that money properly in a replacement who could do what he did in games. Instead we bought Nir Bitton, who as well as not being a different type of midfielder and a frankly pretty poor player, also cost less than Wanyama did initially. We also sold Hooper that summer and didn't replace him at all.

The huns, not sure what your point is? They havnt come near us league wise other than covid. Nor * should they. Financially we are miles ahead of them.

One positive thing I will say about the filth is they back their team with players. Thankfully for us they are even worse at recruitment that our lot.

What * me off the most is that these * just hide in their lairs and dissapear without any explenation.

I just want them confronted now. The media should * hound them. People stalking them everywhere they go. Put up tents outside their houses. Everything necessary.

Turn their lives to * *.

Exactly. Some people are making out as if we could hardly field 11 players and needed another £20m to get through this tie.

We’ve lost 1 player since we went toe to toe with Bayern one of the best teams in the comp and last night we played the lowest ranked left in it.

We can't keep winning the league with no progress in Europe anymore... we're surely better than just constantly winning the league...the ambition of the fans has quite clearly outgrown that of the Tories in the boardroom.. when Fergus won control of Celtic not 1 Celtic fan expected to be sitting powerless again like we are now. We all dug deep into our pockets to save Celtic by buying shares but somehow rich * have snuck in the back door and are lining their pockets while we fail year after year in Europe. The league and cups isn't enough anymore we've outgrown that.

I agree completely with this. The fact that we've had the same failure so many times is ridiculous.

Aye? Always been a thing to my mind as long as he’s been involved. He had shares he sold to the Glazers I’m sure

Well if we want to do something in Europe this will be the year. They better go buy players so we can actually go deep in a competition we have a chance in. Champions league, no matter out ambition is a hopeless tournament we enter so the boardroom men can stash cash and keep a bigger bonus.

Aye, had no idea he had shares in Man U. I just remember the interviews where he disputed the 'absentee landlord' accusations and said he is a big fan of us. Not overly surprising he is fond of an English club though.

There’s two very separate issues to my mind.

The squad we have, and the approach to the two legs, was a fault of the manager regardless.

But the overreaching more worrying point is our board has absolutely * it.

Honestly I’d be lying if I said I remember why I think this, I always have Dermot’s son is a fan of us and that’s why he got involved. Dermot Desmond himself whilst having an affinity for us, he’s a Man Utd fan. Shares he held with them and sold to Glazers I just googled and is definitely right.

but the rest of that; I’ve heard years ago and assumed fact always. Dunno a source, might be full of * with it

It's not dull, it's completely true.

Said similar last night. You could apply it to any job in the world. If you are performing as badly as some of these people have continually for years, then you'd be gone.
