He needs to walk and brutally, publicly out the board as to why he’s doing it. He and we deserve better.

Show them up, to the extent that the Mr Pringle looking * in Dublin might get embarrassed into actually sanctioning something useful for the first time in years.

    * me man for years we threw the phrase "yes man" about and how much we didn't want one now we have folk actively telling us the manager should take the players the board offers him even if he doesn't like the look of them.

Not with Yang, Ralston and an ageing Forrest he's not.

    Depends on the context.

Is this an Ange team with Jota, Kyogo and Abada up front or Ange utilising Yang and Forrest with a misfiring Maeda who wants away?

It's all hypothetical. But it's really not that simple. We could struggle to break sides down under Postecoglou as well, especially once a few players were missing.

    It’s not.

There’s a middle ground that neither Rodgers nor the club are prepared to meet at. Rodgers is clearly ambitious and wants targets that are beyond the ambitions of the board. On the flip side they’ll be throwing a lot of players his way that he’s (for the most part) rightly refusing.

There has to be a compromise to some degree. Almost feels like Rodgers won’t settle for anything less than his targets that are not entirely realistic and so they are locked in a stalemate and in the meantime miss out on good players who fall somewhere in the middle.

That player Rodgers wants at £12m on £40k a week? Probably not happening.

The player the board wants at £1.5m and 8k a week? Probably *.

Get your heads together and sign a player that falls somewhere in between, because at the moment we’re running with Yang and Ralston.

History would tell you that isn’t the case. He also lost games against teams we should be better than but weren’t because of incompetence at board level.

It’s far too simplistic to say that we’d have beaten them purely because he was the manager.

Nobody is saying he should take the players the board offers him.

But he’s so * stubborn that we’ll be missing out on players who would improve us because he wants his plan A and his plan A only, that most likely is never going to happen.

So going to address one single point you made. Just to make it clear. It's pretty tiresome to get this accusation made and not really seen you make it @Mr Shelby so it bites a bit more.

I absolutely don't hate Rodgers and wasn't bothered with him leaving. Neither of those things have any bearing on my opinion

At a fairly early point in my career I had to make a decision to leave an employer who had been good to me. They didn't take it well and where quite threatening/aggressive. I didn't really have a choice but to leave. I felt bad and spoke to a colleague about it. And he explained who and why I agree to work for someone is purely down to me and no real business of anyone else including whoever seeks to employee me. Basically it's my labour. That was a real revelation to me and changed how I think about others employment.

So do I hate Rodgers, because he decided not to work for the club I support. * no, none of my business. Did it bother me he left mid season. * no. Same reason, plus the football was * so was grateful he left to be honest.

So no, that point doesn't hold, to put it politely.

Who’s to blame that we’re signing Balikwisha for 4.5m a couple of days after getting pumped out of the champions league by a * side who were simply very well organised?

Time will tell how good he is, but I think it would be fair to assume Rodgers is happy with him being brought in, and also that he’d have helped us tonight, but it somehow took our board 13 months to get the deal done. 4.5m ffs, that is genuinely nothing in the grand scheme of things and should’ve been done months ago.

With that squad, in his third season, Ange knocks that utter dross out of the champions league every single time. Most managers would.

As much as the board are to blame for obvious reason, this is a massive, massive embarrassment for Rodgers.

It’s not Rodgers jobs to identify players.

That’s why we have a recruitment team. That’s their job. There will be multiple players on Rodgers list for multiple positions that he has approved of. So sign one of them. If we are scouting them, they’re clearly available within a budget. It’s like you’re not seeing what’s happened for multiple windows previously: it’s turning into an exact carbon copy of the season he left early. This is a board made up of the same people who refused to sign any of his players in his final season does time around, including upping a bid for McGinn for £350k.

History is repeating itself. Rodgers wants a better standard of player. They may cost more. He’s well within his rights to ask for it.

It's worked pretty well across his whole Celtic tenures barring maybe a little blip. I have no issue with him wanting his own players and the fact it comes as a shock to our board considering how it ended first time around is wild.

Idah was 1000% his target. Likely added £4m on his price by talking him up. Was pretty mental.

Engels less certain but if he's not all over our most expensive signing who is?

I disagree. Yang is beyond woeful and Forrest is 34. Ange relied heavily on his wingers, as does Rodgers. Both would have struggled.

The board aside, not scoring against this mob in 210 minutes is unbelievable.

It is embarrassing but I will agree to disagree.

All hypothetical ofc but I think he'd struggle with the current crop of attackers. Particularly given how heavily his style relied on Kyogo and Jota as a pairing.

I don't see what he would do differently there that blows away that type of defence. Regardless, we still had chances, however few, and players didn't take them. So sometimes it's just yer Donald duck.

100%. Almost the definition of a manager - making the situation work as best it can.

Or you add £4m onto the price because he performed very well during his loan spell and Norwich knew we had one fit striker and took advantage of our situation. Again, kinda on the board for not negotiating an option to buy in the loan deal so we weren’t rinsed. Why was that again? Oh aye, there was no time because we had literally went a whole window AGAIN without signing a striker.
