I like stengs a lot, if he didnt have his inuries hed probably be in a top league already. Its likely jota is going to have recurring injury problems and id rather our squad wasnt full of these kind of players. happy if we get him but also wouldnt be bothered if we got someone else.

Loan with an obligation if think gets this done but get a feeling he would only sign if we make it past Almaty so no happening then is it...

According to local papers we contacted them to suss things out and never replied to them. Leicester and Pisa in the running also.

Two foreign clubs want to take Calvin Stengs away from Feyenoord

    – A new international adventure looms for Calvin Stengs. The Feyenoord attacking midfielder could join Italian club Pisa and English club Leicester City.

Both clubs have reported to De Kuip and have concrete interest in the man who is no longer guaranteed a starting place at Feyenoord.

    Not even minutes
Stengs hasn't played any minutes this season. Last season, he played just fifteen matches and scored one goal. In the 2023-24 season, he'll make 38 appearances and score ten goals.

Robin van Persie has already indicated in the run-up to this season that there will be stiff competition for Stengs, who has struggled with his fitness for a long time but has fully prepared himself again this pre-season and hoped to be used in the number ten position or as a right winger.

    46 matches per season
Stengs is 26 and is at a stage in his career where he doesn't want to sit on the bench and would like to make a fresh start abroad. In England, Leicester City is a strong contender to challenge for the Championship title, but in that league below the Premier League, clubs play 46 matches per season, plus two cup competitions (the League Cup and the FA Cup).

Celtic was previously mentioned as a potential candidate for Stengs, but the Scottish club hasn't substantiated its interest. Feyenoord's management, however, hopes to make serious deals with Pisa and Leicester.

Feyenoord wants to make the selection, which is currently too full with 38 men, workable for Van Persie and will therefore cooperate in a transfer of Stengs.

He was linked to both us and the Huns McCtominay. And was out of range for either, was absolutely dreaming thinking it would be possible in the slightest and I seen us and them saying nowhere near good enough.

    Was a * joke :56:

Stengs is a cracking player. It’s literally just injury worries in this link for me. I’d be delighted with it if the worries weren’t there.

The reported fee of £5.1m would be accepted, my worry is that they’re trying to shift him when he still has some value due to injuries, thinking that over the next year or two they’ll get worse.

But I suppose that is what a stringent medical is for isn’t it? As a player, he would be * excellent here.

    Hmm.

Would have taken him on loan. Anyway hopefully there's another RW in the pipeline.

He's not even really a winger, much better in the 10 role.

I do want him here but if he joins to play at RW then we have severe lack of pace on that side, especially with Johnston out.

We might think of trying to get him once he's already agreed to go elsewhere. BUT we are counting it as a tried and failed for the stats. Embarrassing

High salary, highly injury prone and not an out & out winger. Happy to miss this one out.

Pisa have held further talks with Celtic and Leicester City target Calvin Stengs, according to Sky in Italy.

The Serie A club are pursuing a loan deal for the Feyenoord winger.

Sky Sports News revealed yesterday that Leicester had opened talks for the Netherlands international.

However, Leicester’s interest in Stengs is only likely to be pursued if they sell Bilal El Khannouss before the deadline.

Celtic have also explored the conditions of a deal earlier this month and are more likely to follow up their interest if they make it through to the Champions League.

It’s understood Feyenoord are open to selling Stengs, 26, in this window.

Don’t think he was that high on our list to be honest, likely just looked at.

We should definitely have taken that deal tbh.

Could have him on loan for a year and still have enough to sort another RW.

I'm not bothered about this one. He is someone with a big reputation 5/6 years ago but this sort of recent record, twinned with his injury record should be telling us to steer well clear.

I'd much rather us go for an up and coming wingers from Sweden/Denmark/Norway for the same type of figures as it would take to bring Stengs here.

Don't remember him being particularly good against us for Feyenoord, he scored a free kick which Joe Hart made a complete mess of.

I think this is a bullet dodged as well.

Think we can get better out there and someone who will offer us more too.
