Obviously going to take a while to click properly with new teammates so he's been a bit inconsistent the first few games, but watching his highlight reels and second half today, he looks every bit a more mobile Rogic/O'Riley, going to be well up there for top combined goals/assists by the end of the season.

I know it was only Livingston at home, but today was a glimpse of what he can do, team is crying oot for more of that type of quality.

He looks a central player, goals could be a big part of his play, he does look like he severely lacks pace but he looks intelligent. He needs to get a grip with corners though.

Does Rodgers actually watch any football other than the English Prem?

Nygren was literally RW-ST-CF before he signed for us. Played in those for Sweden too.

hes obviously proven there too Nygren was a club signing and not his own cos if he was he’d know he’s not a * CM :giggle1:

it’s Rodgers playing him out of position before this game!! Hahaha jeezy peeps man

I think Nygren sees himself as a central player and so does Rodgers but think he'll be more effective for us off the right. I'm not sure the balance is quite right when he plays central with Hatate. Lacks any defensive instincts for me to play central, especially in the tougher games.

I don't think he provides enough width off the right for a lot of teams we play against.

He has obviously played right wing a lot, but in a completely different system.

Whether he’s happier in one or not or if he’s a mid to long term solution is pretty much by the by until we get recruitments in.

He has to start on the right against Kairat. And not only that he may be our best chance of scoring.

He made some great runs off the ball yesterday into the box....prediction: he is going to score against the huns.

Nygren said he seen himself as a central midfielder/No. 10.

The system he played at FCN weren't really wingers, either. They were mostly attacking midfielders who drifted out wide. Very similar to Amorims system at United in a 3-4-2-1.

When did Nygren say that bud, not seen those comments?

ahhh, only ever saw his lineups and positions listed as those I posted. He definitely looked more comfortable out wide than deeper centrally I thought.

our middle 2 (obvs McGregor plays deeper so not including him) are quite fluid in where they play but generally only ever stay central. Nygren naturally wants to come out wide I’ve noticed in earlier games.

I’d genuinely be inclined to keep him out wide.

Pace on the wings means * all when we play domestically because there’s 10 men behind the ball to get past. Think we should keep him there and spend big on another attacking midfielder

He said it in one of his interviews after he joined the club. Maybe it was a press conference. I can't quite remember but I'll go digging.

O'Riley and Rogic both used to drift out wide, too. I think more emphasis is put on Nygren doing it because he kinda played that role or has played that role before, for FCN. But O'Riley used to drift out wide all the time. It's what made him so good because he managed to consistently find space behind the opponents and managed to exploit them so well and it was usually by drifting out slightly to the right hand side.

Surprised by his strength at times yesterday. That finish was a belter for his second. So was the cross he put right on Yang's head with his weaker foot.

Nygren clearly has a real eye for goal and given how short we are with attacking options at the moment we would be in real trouble without Nygren.

He reminds me of like a Rogic/Mooy hybrid with the way he can just take the ball in tight situations and create something with it. Really impressed with some of his play so far and with our lack of wide options just now I'd definitely play him off the right like we did against Livingston and have Engels in midfield with Reo and Calmac. Probably start Yang on the left and Daizen through the middle for this one too. If not that then Daizen on the left and Shin through the middle.
