He could play centre mid easily, wouldn’t be confident in him at centre back but he’s a very good back up for KT. Especially in games like today against teams sitting very deep.

Rodgers praised him but kinda with the backhanded caveat of a game where we have a lot of the ball

That's like 90 percent of our games domestically tho. I dunno why he's so almost dismissive of him, probably has a bee in his bonnet because he's not been his signing I guess.

Can the say the same about Murray as well, he can be so stubborn it just borders stupidity at times. Guarantee we’ll barely see him again and midweek will be back to Scales covering left back.

Rodgers has such a chip on his shoulder with him. Proper weird. Any other player he'd just praise them. Like the comments midweek: any other player he'd say the usual 'well it's always tough, you only have so many spots' etc.

Hayato Inamura, I've always said I think that he's come here, he can play in games of dominance when you have 75-80% and can serve it. So he did well.

Just a simple "He played well today" would suffice.

Does he thinks this is motivating? Honestly if I was Inamura and I heard him constantly undercutting my performances I'd think he was a right *.

Rodgers is being a proper tart because he's a 'club' signing, if Inamura cost £5m from England he'd be slabbering all over himself about how comfortable he is with the ball.

It's actually quite embarrassing stuff from a manager of Rodgers calibre to be coming out with back handed compliments like that. So petty.

Yep constantly looking down his nose at signings from J league while the 2 best players at the club came from the exact same league.

Sometimes he really needs to park his ego

Think there is an issue with this signing regarding Rodgers not having his say.

Lad done well again today, Rodgers comments seem strange that he’s not ready for Scottish football, clearly showed he is.

Again under no circumstances am I ever going to defend the board but the truth is we are very rarely going to sign players who are the finished article. We will get the odd one like a Juranovic, KT or AJ but generally we will sign players with certain qualities that we like but who will need developed to fully reach their potential and will need their weaknesses coached.

A good example of this is Trusty, big quick, good 1 v 1 defender but clearly struggles to progress the ball and at times gets rattled physically. So that's areas of his game that needs developed as there is huge potential there.

Inamura is another. His ability on the ball is fantastic, he's good in the air, has good turn of pace and is a good size, especially for a full back. Positioning 100% needs developed.

This is where Rodgers comes in and seems to be falling short. Hes on big money partly bcoz he's an elite coach who's major strength is developing players. So rather than just writing guys off and playing Liam Scales in their positions he needs to do more to develop these players into Champions League level players.

We are not Man city or Liverpool and no manager here is ever gonna be a chequebook manager like Pep or Slot.

Tbh honest outwith O'Riley and probably Khun, although his was a very short spell, I struggle to think of any players in the squad he's developed or made better since he's came back.

I see very little or no development in likes of Engels, Trusty, Bernardo and Idah

Hope this guy continues to get minutes and a chance to develop, because he’s been impressive any time I’ve seen him.

Stuff like this is why a lot of people still can’t take to Rodgers. The boy has barely put a foot wrong but he has decided to dig him out on a few occasions. Like others have said if he was from England and played like he has done he would be the second coming of Ashley Cole.
    Great debut from Inamura
