From CeltsAreHere in this week’s loan news

It was a night of frustration for Luis Palma and Lech Poznań on Thursday as they were torn apart by Genk in the Europa League play-off first leg. The Polish side were overrun on their own pitch, losing 5-1 in a game that exposed them at the back and left them facing a massive challenge in the return leg. Palma struggled to impose himself in attack, with Genk’s intensity and organisation limiting his influence. It was a sobering reminder of the step up required in European competition, both for the team and for the Honduran winger. It looks like Poznań may just have to settle for a place in the Conference League.
There was a small silver lining for Celtic observers, however, as former Hoops striker Oh Hyeon-gyu showed strong character after an early setback. His 38th-minute penalty was kept out, but he responded almost immediately, rifling in Genk’s fourth goal just two minutes later. It was a tidy finish and a clear example of the grit he brings to his game. With competition fierce and every outing under the microscope, Oh’s sharp reaction won’t go unnoticed as he keeps pushing for more consistent game time.

Odin Thiago Holm was once again missing from the LAFC squad in their 1-1 draw with FC Dallas on Sunday. The Norwegian midfielder has yet to break into the first team and remains out of the matchday picture entirely. He’s still working his way back after injury, but his lack of minutes suggests he’s got ground to make up both in terms of sharpness and trust from the coaching staff. For someone once seen as a long-term midfield option at Celtic, his current spell in the MLS isn’t going to plan.
It’s been a tough few months for Holm since making the move to the States, and the clock is ticking if he wants to make an impression. Having fallen down the pecking order, he’ll need to grab whatever chances come his way in training or MLS Next Pro games. If he’s to come back to Celtic in the frame for senior football, he’ll need to turn things around fairly quickly

Adam Montgomery wasn’t in Livingston’s squad for their 3-0 defeat against Celtic on Saturday, loan rules stopped him from playing against his parent club. On top of that, he’s been managing a muscle issue, and his fitness will be assessed ahead of Livi’s upcoming home match against Hearts. The club are hoping he’ll recover in time to add some much-needed stability at the back.
Before picking up the injury, Montgomery had settled in nicely at the Home of the Set Fare Arena, offering both energy and balance down the left flank. David Martindale will be keen to reintegrate him swiftly, as Livingston have made a solid start to their Premiership return, currently sitting fourth in the league. Having key players back to full fitness will be vital as they look to maintain momentum.

In Germany, Maik Nawrocki missed out again for Hannover 96 in their 3-1 win over Magdeburg. The Polish centre-back picked up a knock in training during the week and was seen working separately with a bandage on his left thigh. Although not deemed a serious injury, the setback is another delay in what’s been a stuttering start to his time in the 2. Bundesliga. His loan move has yet to truly get off the ground.
Nawrocki has yet to play a competitive minute since making the switch, and while Hannover do have an option to buy, that clause looks increasingly unlikely to be activated unless he finds consistent game time soon. The next few weeks will be crucial for the defender’s hopes of kickstarting his season and proving he can make an impact in Germany’s second tier.

Josh Clarke and Ben McPherson were both in the starting eleven as Partick Thistle pulled off a strong 3-1 win away at Ross County, a result that later saw Don Cowie sacked. McPherson played 72 minutes at right-back, offering composure and defensive stability, while Clarke put in another solid display between the posts. Clarke was booked in the 88th minute for time-wasting, with the Jags holding a narrow lead at the time. His command of the box and communication with the backline were key throughout.
The result sees Partick climb to fifth in the Championship and builds on a promising start to the campaign under Mark Wilson. Both Celtic loanees have slotted in well at Firhill and are contributing to a side that look capable of challenging near the top end of the table. Consistent performances from Clarke and McPherson will only strengthen their claims for more significant roles, either at Thistle or back at the Hoops.

Kyle Ure featured for the full 90 minutes in Ayr United’s 2-2 draw at Morton on Saturday afternoon. The midfielder battled throughout as Scott Brown’s men again showed flashes of promise but couldn’t quite get over the line. Jude Bonnar was an unused substitute on the day, as Ayr remain seventh and are still searching for their first league win. Despite some encouraging performances, they’ve yet to turn positive spells into three points.
It’s been a mixed start for Ayr, who’ve found goals but struggled to shut up shop defensively. Ure continues to be a regular in the middle of the park, while Bonnar will hope for more opportunities in the weeks to come as squad rotation becomes more important. With Brown likely to shuffle his team to find the right balance, both players may have a part to play as the season unfolds.

Mitchell Robertson was once again an unused substitute for Inverness CT as they secured a 2-0 win away at Montrose. The victory lifts Caley Thistle to seventh in League One, although they’ve played one more game than Kelty Hearts, who sit just a point behind. The former Celtic youth captain remains on the fringes, having yet to find consistent minutes under Scott Kellacher.
Robertson’s game time has been limited since making the switch, and while he’s been involved in matchday squads, he’s yet to find a consistent role under the current coaching staff. With competition for places heating up, the young defender will need to bide his time and make the most of any minutes that come his way. A strong showing when called upon could quickly shift his standing within the squad.
As the season moves along, Celtic’s young players are finding themselves at different stages in their development. Some, like Francis Turley and Emmanuel Obidiwe, are stepping up with goals and strong performances for the B team. Others, including Josh Clarke and Ben McPherson, are settling well into loan spells and making a clear impact.
For players like Odin Thiago Holm and Maik Nawrocki, it’s still a case of trying to get going after slow starts and setbacks. The B team sit fourth in the Lowland League and will look to keep the momentum going when they take on Kelty Hearts in Scottish Challenge Cup on Tuesday night. With the chance of Youth League football also still on the table, the next couple of weeks could be big for this group. Whether it's about keeping form, getting fit, or taking chances when they come, every game right now is a step forward in shaping what comes next.
