    Brendan Rodgers has admitted Alistair Johnstonappears to have suffered a hamstring injury.


    The right-back had to be taken off on a stretcher after an off-the-ball injury against Kairat Almaty in the Champions League.

    Johnston looked to clutch at his right leg as he tracked back at Celtic Park.

    The defender received treatment after around 33 minutes before being withdrawn as he was unable to continue.

    Quizzed on Johnston's condition and whether he had the knowledge of a timeline for the injury layoff after the match on TNT Sports, Rodgers said: "I don't, but it looks like a hamstring, which is a shame because he started the season so well."

    Asked for an update in his post-match press conference, he added: "I haven't spoken to the medical guys yet, but it looks like a hamstring injury, which is disappointing.


    I will get more in the morning."

    Johnston was spotted in the Celtic dugout with crutches in the second half after being forced off.

    A disaster. Johnston has easily been one of our best players in the early goings and now whatever about the second leg of this tie that looked from Johnston's reaction to be a bad hamstring injury. So likely a very long lay off. Massive blow.

    Not surprising really, he’s barely had any time off during the summer and does a power of running every game. Going to be a huge miss, wonder if Pusey can play right back.

    Hopefully if it is his hamstring its only a couple of months and he's back around November.

    Even if that's the case, we need another RB now, which we wont get.

    Probably our best player this season as well. Plus with nothing happening out wide him and Tierney at least carry a bit of a threat but you can only get 60 minutes out of Tierney.

    I'd say that's a 2-3 month layoff. He will miss most of the CL.

    I can see us looking for a utility full back who can cover both sides, on loan of course.

    If this is the celtic style pricing derby are leading with. Anything under £4mil we need to be approaching strum graz with. Be amazed if they accept anything lower but if that’s the competition?

    we know AJ won’t stick around forever. perfect cheap buy that’s completely feasible. We should be all over this
