I think BR is very close to blameless for the current situation. Losing your two star players and not replacing them is always going to mean you have one hand tied behind your back. The lack of transfer activity doesn't just have a direct effect it also effects the mood of the whole club on and off. The players who are CL capable know they need tje backup and they aren't getting it. Last nights outcome was im the post. Only positive is we haven't stumbled domestically yet.

Brendan, you said yesterday about not having the control over, you know, the time scale of bringing players in. Is that something you'd like to have more control over?

"Listen, I just want what's the best for Celtic. I don't necessarily need control. If there's alignment and everything is aligned and I want what's best for the football team, that's where my strengths are. And like I said, this is a performance club. This is where you need to perform. And for that, it's getting players in, getting the team prepared to the best level that you possibly can and then going on journeys that can excite supporters and create great memories. That's why I'm here, in order to do that. So it's not about control. I just want what is the best for Celtic."

Does it feel like that alignment is there at the moment?

"Well listen, at this moment in time, the focus is on the team. Focus is on us getting through into the group stages. And that's my only focus"

Dodges the last question completely, that sums it all up. The people running the club are completely misaligned with the manager, who is completely misaligned with the recruitment team it seems.

    Whole thing is a mess.

He wont be staying anyway, but tbh Id do everything to bring in the Bodo manager if he fancies it onviously. We should also look to bring their recruitment team in as well.

You must be at the noise up? It’s literally what happens in most cases, at most clubs.

The very unique situation at Celtic however is that almost always 'sack the board' unrest in foot all is driven by teams massively underperforming and when teams lose football games managers generally lose their jobs. In the case of Celtic we have enjoyed a world record breaking run of domestic success and most fans want the board to go.

That is no defence of the board at all, but it makes for a very different dynamic where the manager is winning trophies every year while the board are seen to be failing. If a team is fighting relegation and the fans want to sack the board, it is an easy board move to sack the manager. If the manager has won the league every year he has been at the club and improved in Europe in the previous season it is very difficult for a board to sack the manager

So, point remains, as Rodgers said - when you start hearing ‘sack the Board’ it normally results in ‘sack the manager’?

I blame him for not going 2 up top last night. He's way too cautious.

He was giving it the we work with what we’ve got and improve current players etc a few weeks back then a poor result and straight away blaming the board for not backing him.

We obviously need new faces in but he was backed last summer massively and also we have more than enough currently to win last night.

Like last time, he has been hung out to dry. You couldn’t blame him if he walked at any point this season. However, it didn’t stop a section of our support hounding him for it previously. The similarities are alarming. The fans are all furious at the board, and rightly so. They are the problem. However, give it a few months and if Rodgers gets an offer and decides to leave, he will be the bad guy amongst some of the supporters.

Really? I can remember a couple of weeks ago he done one of the best press conferences I've seen from a Celtic manager where he clearly showed his unhappiness at the way the board was operating.

Yes, he will continue to say that he needs to work with what he has because that's all he can do in reality. He can only call out the board so many times until it becomes tiresome. He did it a few weeks ago and he done it again last night.

When he talks about working with what he has, it's just the reality of the situation for him as a manager. He doesn't want to work with what he has, he doesn't want to be answering the same questions every press conference about transfers. He's the manager of the club he grew up supporting, he will want us to be the very best we possibly can be and we are wildly negligent when it comes to transfers.

Apologies for not specifying that I meant this during the 2. half.

It would mean pulling Hatate off and adding Yamada to Maeda, while keeping Yang and Nygren wide.

Hes changed nothing from our drop off in form last season and cup final defeat.

    Same old * tactics.

Hes lucky that the huns look worse than us but that could change quickly if they beat us next weekend.

Well turkeys never vote for Christmas do they?
Man Utd is an example where a clueless board have sacked multiple managers to cover the toxic culture at the club.

However, it is highly unusual, maybe even unique that there is so much anger with the board at a football club when the team are doing relatively well on the pitch and the manager (sorry coach) is broadly supported.

The fans aren't stupid, they see the mismanagement of the club despite the trophies.
They see an elite coach who is openly criticising the club.
More importantly, they see also what's good and how much better it could be - with the right stewardship.
    It's time for change.

‘Relatively’ doing a lot of heavy lifting in this post, every single Celtic fan knows we’re light on quality at the top end of the park. We have the means to resolve it, the manager wants it and even the captain has now stated it - why then are we going into a game worth tens of millions of pounds with Idah and Forrest starting and Shin and Yang being introduced during?

Negligence at board level, the chants were wholly unsurprising and completely expected.

There are issues on and off the field. The team clearly needs strengthening. But even with that in mind there have been too many performanes over too long a period ive watched thinking this is pretty laboured stuff and theres not much of a plan b.

The spl doesnt punish bad displays ruthlesly though. We still do not drop too many points even with average displays. And rangers being as bad as they are doesnt punish us when we do drop points.

I think it lends itself to going stale and needing to be refreshed more regularly. Our pattern of play is so predictable now and if not down accurately at a higher tempo it really gets bogged down in dead ends.
