what? There’s literally zero excuse for the amount he hid behind his man tonight. That’s not other players fault. He should be running a game like that and dictating it.
I want to echo the fact that I think he’s far from finished but that was a genuine embarrassment tonight.

 

Perhaps the club should engage in the revolutionary action of actually acquiring a natural number 6 (with a bit of physicality) instead of forcing McGregor into a role which he's unsuited to playing on the European level.

Last season was a anomaly given our European record over the last 5~ years in which McGregor has consistently been the supposed lynchpin of the midfield.

 

He was hiding. As he has on numerous occasions in the last couple of seasons.

Booking didn’t help but I thought it was an awful performance from someone who should be doing a much better of job of commanding that midfield.

 

Glad he mentioned there’s another game to play.

He can hide in that one as well.

Been a fantastic player for us but we should be planning for replacing him in the next season or 2, but we won't.

He’s been a better leader than Broony. He leads by example week after week and has consistently been the best player in the country for years. He’s had plenty of big moments in big games so to call him an average captain is bizarre. He’s proven to be a fantastic leader.

One bit that truly annoyed me, he gave a throwing to another player, jogged out and went behind one of the goat farmers to hide.. *? * turn and show for the ball.

 

I couldn’t believe it. We’re allegedly chasing a goal, he could’ve thrown it to Trusty and got us moving, instead he elects not to take the throw and gives it to Scales, then when Scales goes to take the throw Trusty has been shut down so now we can’t throw it in, meanwhile McGregor jogs as far away as he can and goes behind one of their players.

In microcosm it showed his entire game last night.

If he’s having a bad game that’s one thing. If he can’t track back effectively in the transition - well, we’ve all been excusing that for years now.

But to work against us in terms of pace setting and attitude and hide behind players is completely unacceptable in any game. He owes us a massive performance next week and if he can’t deliver that he should hand back the armband.

 

Miss those fast throw-ins we used to do under Ange. Not got the urgency needed now that makes them work.

 

Had a really poor game, even in the second half. He is always getting too close to other players and then asking for the ball just to pass it straight back. I know sometimes its good to keep it moving and creating triangles to create spaces for passes etc etc. He needs to be getting his head up and passing more forwards rather back or sideways all the time.
