    He’s finished in big games.

    Still a good player and still necessary in the league but he’s can’t keep up anymore.

    He hid tonight because he knew he couldn’t keep up, and this is hardly world beaters.

    He's done it plenty of times in Europe over the years.

    Over the piece he actually wasn't too bad last year but it's a bit of a myth that he's consistent. He's anything but.

    He can't tackle and can't run. He isn't creative anymore. He has his uses, especially domestically, but he's pretty useless in Europe unless we have the right type of midfielder(s) next to him. Of course we don't.

    He's a problem though. But he'll play every minute of every game until he leaves Celtic or retires.

    Big reason the Huns have been better against us of late too.

    I dont think he's finished, but hes at the point of his career where he really needs properly rotated.

    We have about 4 other positions we need fixed before CDM so it wont be one this window (or the January window) but next summer I think its imperative we get someone to properly rotate with him.

    What other sides in Europe with aspirations of thriving at that level are going with a 32 year old, non physical player who can barely win a tackle as their first choice sitting midfielder?

    None I'd suggest

    But I do find it frustrating how much we rely on him. He needs support. And we are gonna go through yet another window ignoring that position of the park.

    It happens so often now.

    He’ll have some big performances this season and people will point to that, but a Celtic captain needs to turn up every game, not just every now and again.

    Hun games this year, cup final, now this game.. but let’s just cover our ears and close our eyes.

    The very fact I’ve seen the “he’ll make people look stupid” line a number of times over the last couple of years says it all.

    We’ve seen performances like that tonight from him far too often in big games.

    We can go through each of his good performances over that period and it would be a complete waste of my time.

    The reality remains, if you remove him from this team the team suffers massively. We’ve tried Engels, we’ve tried McCowan, we’ve tried Hatate all in that same position and the entire teams drops levels.

    Could we be doing with a different option in there? Absolutely. But is Cal the problem just now? Absolutely not.
